Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomA staff member was going around at breakfast asking how much a watermelon weighed in his hand. When I said I didn’t want to take part he just laughed at me. Weird! So unprofessional. Also parking is 35R. So much more than any other hotel. I think they just ask you to pay it because of the Ritz name.
Lovely hotel and room. Got the best sleep I had all holiday here. Very 80s vibe of a hotel decor and I liked it. Hotel receptionist was so polite, friendly and helpful.

The people in the hotel were very helpful. Our kid became ill and we had to stay 2 days extra. Our kid also loved the kids club every morning and afternoon.

United StatesWe stayed two nights and the breakfast was exactly the same during the whole trip . They could change the menu everyday . Also they give you like 6 different cars and it can really be a pain once we need different cards to access the room, order drinks at the bar or get towels . Last , the beach in front of the hotel is not appropriate for bathing . if I knew that in advance , we would have picked another location . SPA was decent .
Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Room was very clean, shower was amazing !

United KingdomThere is a massive window between the bathroom and the bedroom, it has a blind but it is still a little odd. Also I think you might struggle here if you didn't speak any Portuguese but that applies to the whole region, so it is not really a criticism, just a heads up if you come here expecting to be able to speak English to everybody!
A really good spread for breakfast, even as a vegan I had plenty of options. Loads of friendly staff available to help, and a really nice pool to chill out next to. The room was the perfect size for two, and plenty of parking even though they technically can't guarantee you a space.

NetherlandsHotel is very old and doesn’t worth the value, still don’t know how this could be a 5 start resort. We got a upgrade to a better room, but the lamp was broken and the bathroom was very dirty. The pool service also takes really long but the food at least was good.
Breakfast was great, with a variety of things to eat.

GermanyThe beach just outside is very polluted. It has a bad smell and trash, like almost all beaches in the city. The hotel is not very well-maintained. The beds and pillows were low quality. There was no other toiletries than a bad shampoo and soap. The pool towels had stains and were very thin and old. The sound insolation in the rooms was so poor we could hear our neighbor talking or watching TV. The breakfast had little variety, there was no whole grain bread option but all in all ok. The dinner, however, was miserable and not worth the money. The bar by the pool was ridiculously overpriced. The coffee extremely bad quality. There was no free water dispensers, which in a 5-star hotel in this climate and in a city with non-drinkable tab water should be a must. The staff, especially waiters/waitresses,however friendly, was not very attentive and untrained and would forget to clean tables or bring cutlery. Finally, the wifi would collapse and not work at all in the afternoons. It was impossible to browse the internet, possible sometimes to send messages. Absolutely unacceptable!
The pool area and the gym saved the day.

BrazilExtremely bad acoustic isolation. We could hear all night long people arriving in the elevator and in adjacent rooms loud and clear. They must have put us in worst part of the building on first floor although our preference was for upper floor. There was a scaffolding in front of the window. Breakfast while plenty of choice was of poor quality and the room in which it was served looked like a makeshift cafeteria.
Staff was very friendly, and location ok, although a bit off from where most restaurants and bars are located. The hotel is next to a calmer part of the beach at the near end of town. If you enjoy jogging, you can run along the bike and pedestrian path along the beach. It is less crowded in a northerly direction. The other way along the beach towards Pajussara is more crowded but still ok for running. Hotel has a reasonable gym as well. There is a shopping center just 1,3 Km away.
