How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

I think they could offer a beach service, but we can get straight from the food/beverage stalls in the beach.
Definitely the location is amazing, Ipanema beach front. Walking distance to great restaurants in a safe area. The room was simple, but very comfortable, with excellent shower. Great breakfast. The hotel facade can be deceiving, as it is a small lobby, no luxury. But the location of the hotel and good accommodation is what makes the difference as Ipanema beach does not offer a lot of options.

A nice hotel in a fantastic location. Ipanema beach is a privileged location and that is expressed in the price which is at the upper end of what the hotel (even though nice) can justify. If the prime location is worth it to you, this is a very good choice.

The water in the shower could, at times, get very hot or cold which wasn’t great. There are works being done to the building using scaffolding. During the day, engineers would be working on the building and could easily see into the room (when one is dressing or relaxing). Appreciate the works need to be done but it would’ve been nice to be informed of this in advance rather than finding out as an engineer was outside the window!
Great location across the road from Ipenema beach. The bedroom was a good size, large bed, great bed linen, good shower with plenty of toiletries supplied.

The construction ( unfortunately, but totally understandably)
The view was blocked by some construction iron poles while we were there. We can still see the ocean but through the poles. Breakfast was great, had everything you wish for. Friendly staff . The reception staff was great too.

I believe that the rooftop (and sits in it) is small for the amount of travelers passing by the hotel. The pool too. The cleaning personal have to use the same elevators than the tourists (they don't have one for their own), so that was inconvenient at certain moments of the day.
Pefectly located in one of the best beaches in Brasil, for its view, the crowd, services, and the splendorous and vigorous neighbourhood of Ipanema. Great breakfast, the staff was kind and willing to help. And the room was confortable enoughm with a beautiful view of the beach.

Location was good but room is small,restaurant manager treat my family like they don’t belong there and he wa lucky I just found this out,security stop my daughters at the door asking where they were going and I know it’s because she had a flamengo shirt on it so he thought she was a local,I won’t stay there ever again

Pool on the roof is an acet (quite small but with a really nice view) . Rooms as exactly as described and expected, in a pretty part of the city in front of a one of the crowded beach (ipanema) but not as crowded as Copacabana. Close to the metro also.

The location is incredible, there's a number of fantastic breakfast spots around and it's relatively safe to walk around. Obviously it's Brazil so you need to keep your wits on.

There was a strange odor near our bathroom. Wasn’t too bad perhaps the massive rain backed up some of the sewage system
Love the location. Stayed here three times now and it never disappoint

The fitness center was small and limited.
The breakfast was great and served in a beautiful setting looking out into the beach. The location was exceptional with a friendly staff.

Some confusion at checkin but otherwise fine. They asked for a small tourist tax at checkout which was not substantial but when pressed they said it wasn’t actually mandatory. I don’t like that they do that- it feels predatory and like someone is taking advantage. It wasn’t the sum - it was the way it was requested. And when pressed, they said I didn’t have to pay!

The lifts were very slow at times. Also didn’t like that Wifi disconnects once you have checked out. We needed it for our Uber to the airport later in the day.
The amazing location and the hotel provides beach towels, chairs and umbrellas at no extra charge. This is a great extra touch.

they made the bed and changed the towels everyday but did not clean the bathroom the whole stay. I would go back anyway

At the fitness room the appliances must be more often checked and repair , for example , the bike we couldn’t use because the pedal was loose .
Breakfast is quite good , only complain is that the staff people talks inside the breakfast room all the time with each other too loud , they should be a bit aware of it .

The room was not as luxurious as I expected for the price I paid. I guess the cost is due solely to the location, which is indeed great. I can’t imagine what a 4-star hotel would cost facing the Ipanema beach.
