Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ChileThe kitchen area for guest is very basic. It is also downstairs outside the main hostel area, and you have to ask for a key to open it every time. They only have pots but no pans, so for example I couldn’t make myself a simple scrambled or fried eggs. The electric stove takes forever to boil water to cook. Would be nice if they had a kettle and more cooking gear.
This has to be one of the cleanest hostels Ive ever stayed. Everything from the common areas, the rooms, the bedding kit, the bathrooms, all of it spotless clean. The breakfast was great and very organized. The day time staff is professional and always willing to help. The location is perfect, walking distance to Paulista Avenue, the metro, supermarkets and other services.

United KingdomAfter checking out I was informed I could leave my luggage and pay for extra time to store- which is great. Upon returning from museums all day I sat in the communal table/breakfast area in which I was told I could use. Some time later the lady on shift said I couldn’t stay because “it’s the rules”. I said I was waiting for my flight and leaving at 7.45. She repeated that I couldn’t stay and that it’s the rules. She said she would check with her boss who said it was fine- I’m very grateful for this particularly being a female solo traveler and in São Paulo. I suggested that perhaps the hostel should consider putting in to their policies that once you have checked out, you can’t stay, also display this on the walls along with their other rules and make this clear upon check in. It felt very unwelcoming to be told to leave- the communal area was empty, I was quiet and simply watching something on my tablet whilst I waited for my taxi to collect me and take me to the airport. I have stayed in 50+ hostels around the world and never been told to leave a communal area after checkout. Especially in the dark and as a female solo traveller.
The hostel was exceptionally clean yet felt cosy and comfortable. The facilities were fantastic. They are clearly working hard to create a safe space for travellers, especially for solo female travellers with female only bathrooms & dorms. The security in the hostel was great.

AustraliaThe pillows are quite flat, however this is easily corrected by placing the large blanket underneath the pillow for extra padding. My room was quite warm however the fan and open window provided plenty of ventilation to keep me at a comfortable temperature throughout the night.
I stayed twice at Soul Hostel 2 in the past few weeks, and absolutely adored my stay each time. The accommodation is in a fantastic location- not only close to many amenities, including a shopping centre and bus stations, but the area itself feels very safe to explore. The hostel has an excellent security system with a large exterior locking gate, large, comfortable rooms with excellent lockers to store valuables, a fantastic kitchen/ breakfast area (which makes for the ideal location to work if you are remote working), a back courtyard area for drying clothes or relaxing, wonderful bathroom facilities and a seamless check in and out process. You can print bus tickets for 1 real/ page. Breakfast is great, including a ham and cheese sandwich, coffee, juice, a piece of fruit, biscuits and cereal. The staff are welcoming and helpful. They accept card payment to pay for your stay. Wifi is excellent.

PolandLocated in a safe area, close to the metro station. A lot of good restaurants nearby. Rooms were spacious and clean, the stuff was very friendly. The breakfast was basic: prepared sandwich with cheese and ham (you can ask for a vegetarian option - cheese only), banana, some cake, juice and you can always count on a cup of a strong coffee to start your day. Very peaceful during the night, although the street can be a bit noisy especially if the window is left open.

BelgiumMy room was giving to the streets so it was a little bit noisy in the night but didn't disturb my sleep overall It would have been the perfect hostel if it had a little more space where people can chill.
The location ( just near avenida Paulista and metro station), museums not far away. The security of the door gate, the breakfast. Hostel was clean and has big lockers. You also have the possibility to leave your luggage to their reception until 2 pm the day of your departure. The hostel also have a practical kitchen

BrazilThe beds are a little hard. They also don't have curtains, but it's possible to cover using a sheet.
Very clean and safe hostel with a reasonable price. If you need a cheap place to stay that is nice and clean that's a very good option. It's possible to stay for a few hours before of after the check-in the common areas in case your flight is outside this time.

BrazilThis MIGHT be of concern only on rainy or very sunny days: part of the common tables space is open. Didn't bother me, but I don't know if there is a method for covering it in case it rains a lot, or in the winter time... Maybe they have the solution, I just didn't get any rainy days to see it myself.
Open Kitchen and several bathrooms and common room all great! Best is they didn't charge for anything extra, like some other hostels around do... The location is GREAT: very SAFE and near touristic points, METRO station, drugstore, etc. Room with big locker with keys and A/C. Free towel and bed lining. Could sleep very well in a room of 6 people. Everybody is nice and open to talk: made several friendships!! They even let you leave you baggage there. OBS.: stairs before door. Video camera in front gate.

SwitzerlandBreakfast could be improved (I guess it's better than nothing), there isn't really a comfy hangout area to chill and meet other people.
Very spacious rooms, plenty of space inbetween the lower and top bunk as well, towel included, a small light and power point for every bed, rather hard but still comfy beds, good location Neither positive nor negative but good to know is that this seemed more a cheap place for Brazilians to stay than a hangout for travellers. So not ideal if you want to meet people.

TurkeyThe staff are very rude. This was my first hostel experience. So I didn't want to write a review without seeing other hostels. On the last day I went down to the breakfast area to have breakfast. I poured myself half a cup of coffee and ate the breakfast they gave us. I went up to my room, packed my bag and went back down to the breakfast area to check my plane tickets and poured another half cup of coffee. The guy working at the hostel gave me a angry and dirty look and told me I could only have one cup of coffee. Although I told him that I could pay, his attitude did not change and this is not the only example of this rude behavior. They do not provide drinking water. I had to buy water from the reception several times, yet they get angry when you drink more than one coffee.
Hostel is very close to the city center and has clean toilets and showers.

New ZealandCustomer service was very cold and unfriendly. Especially the woman who usually works in the afternoons with the red hair, she was horrible - unfriendly, unhelpful, not at all accommodating. Beds were uncomfortable and the mattress squeaked every time you moved. Linen and towels were dirty with stains all over it. The kitchen was very strange also, you had to ask for a key at reception to access the shared kitchen every time, and during my stay there was a total of one fork, one knife, one spoon available for use. Not at all catered for anyone to actually use the space. Would rather pay a little extra next time for some place better.
Clean bathrooms that are cleaned everyday.

BrazilBasically everything. The place is hot and there's no air conditioning in the areas or even in the room. There's no comfortable place to stay during the day. When it's very hot, it's impossible to chill and the beds are very bad. I don't understand that I have to make my one bed and when I leave, I have to bring the dirty linen downstairs. They have to change this.
I like the location. It''s close to Paulista Av. and metro station. It's not very close to the train station, however it's not a big deal.

United KingdomThe staff. The guy who checked me in was lovely but given he was tired, he forgot to give me the top sheet and to tell me where to get a pillow so I slept without one and with my own sheet. I didn't make a fuss about it but the guy the next morning was super moody. First, I asked about veggie options for breakfast and his first reply was "did you tell anyone you were veggie?", I said I wasn't asked. And while he seemed to be in a mood, he made the breakfast and it was good so I didn't complain. Then when I went to check out another staff member asked me for all my bed linen so I brought it to him. He insisted I'd been given a top sheet and that he'd have to charge me for it. I explained that I didn't get one, that maybe the guy who checked me in didn't give me one and that mistakes happen when people are tired. He went on a rant about how the guy shouldn't have done that, how the sheet was going to fall on him and how he would have to take the hit. Firstly, I found it incredibly unprofessional to speak about colleagues and internal policy in that way, secondly it's a sheet and it was clearly a mistake - it's not like I was making a big deal about not having one (too tired to care). Unfortunately, this tainted my stay there because while the hostel is lovely, it did make me wonder if the staff are actually treated well enough if they are that stressed. This in my opinion is a management problem that has to be resolved, and I don't want to blame any of the staff members above because they are clearly just frustrated with their environment. Hope this feedback goes to positive use!
I liked the location and the breakfast
