This was our first visit to Botswana. The Chobe River Cottages were great value for money. The pool was clean and inviting. The rooms were as described and in good order. The kitchen was well equipped having a fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, hob and plenty of cups, glasses, plates etc etc. The staff were friendly and helpful and assisted us with booking a land and boat safari which were very good and a little cheaper than others in the area. Would strongly recommend this property for those wanting a self-catering lodge. There is a good restaurant (The Old House) about 50 yards along the road. The food was excellent and good value. There is also a shopping mall about 150 yards in the other direction.

The entire staff was incredibly kind. From the moment of check-in (super fast and friendly), the staff always made sure to provide service to the best of their abilities. The cleanliness and comfort of the rooms were excellent. The two pools are beautiful, clean, and appropriately sized for the facility. The buffet breakfast is definitely above average compared to many places in the same range. If you're considering of visiting Vic Falls, this is the place to stay.

Describing the units as "on the banks of the Chobe" creates expectations that will not be fulfilled if you do not read the description carefully. We went to the veiwing deck once, there was another couple present and the deck felt full to capacity already, so we did not stick around.

We were four people, and expected from the reviews that the unit might feel a bit cramped and sleeping on the couch would not be the most comfortable. With these expectaions, we were very happy with what we got. The patio easily works as an additional room, so we never felt the lack of space. Apart from the very hard pillows, we also did not find the sleeper-couch that uncomfortable. We liked the central, yet very quiet location, the safe parking spaces provided, and the small pool. For four people the price was very fair.

The viewing area over river needs tidying up to look more appealing, but otherwise the accommodation was ok. The hot water tank makes a racket as it’s heating throughout the night.

Cottages hosting 4 pax do not have 2 separate bedrooms, and one couple must sleep on a pull-out couch in the living room.

Mosquitos bite may be a concern in certain months. We saw insects/mosquitos in the room (on the floor, but not a lot), but we just came from camping at Chobe national park, so the cottage was a nice and pleasant convenience.

It was a 5 min walk to the market. Good kitchen. Sufficient room for our family of 3 ( 2 double beds).

Great place to stay when visiting Kasane. Next to Coffee Buzz and Old House for eating options, or a short walk to Spar supermarket if you want to self cater in the more than adequate kitchenette (we bought pre-cooked frozen meals from Coffee Buzz which we reheated in the microwave.

I think the layout of the kitchen was a bit awkward- all other rooms were excellent - the kitchen could do with a bit of modernization Maybe the hosts could stock and sell charcoal for the braai. We struggled to find this in town.
