Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelizeDidnt like that the restaurant hours are restrictive. Breakfast should be available until 12, unfortunately it only until 10:00a.m.
The facilities are well kept and is a nice place to stay. I like the pool and the view it gives.

United StatesThe only drawbacks were the coffee and the lack of fitness center. The hotel had a Lavazzo coffee machine at the restaurant but my husband is very particular with his coffee (freshly ground beans, triple shot Americano). But since we had a rental car, he just drove to the village to get coffee. The gym rat in me decided not to workout during my vacation since the resort didn’t have a gym but if it had one, I would definitely use it.
We stayed at Umaya Resort and Adventures from March 29 to April 7. The resort sent a vehicle to pick us up and drive us to its location. Upon arriving, we noticed that the place was clean and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. We were given a welcome drink and our bags were delivered to the suite. Our suite was on the ocean side facing the pool and it was cleaned everyday by housekeeping. Please remember to tip the housekeeping staff, especially when they do a great job, because their work is oftentimes under appreciated and thankless. Storage real estate in the bedrooms and bathrooms were limited and I realized that it might bother some people but it didn’t to us because we came with packing cubes. The food at Laguna restaurant at the hotel was great, too. We had breakfast and dinner there. Don Tonito’s by the pool had wood-fired pizzas. We tried 4 varieties and they were all good. The beach was nice and clean with many sun loungers, hammocks, and trees for shade. The pool was huge and there was a swim up bar. The bartenders made delicious drinks. Try their Craboo infused rum which they made in-house. Craboo is a local fruit like a small yellow cherry. I had it with my mojito and rum punch; absolutely amazing! The WiFi internet is fast, I was able to watch YouTube videos without lagging. Pro tip: Travel light. The resort has laundry services that will charge $10 per laundry load. We had 4 days of dirty clothes for 4 people in one load. The laundry was picked up by mid morning and it was delivered that same night. Awesome deal. Pro tip 2: Don Tonito’s pizzas can be expensive but if you time it right by choosing to dine there on a Wednesday, they have a buy one, get one free pizza deal.

United StatesNice ambiance, cool beach pizza bar with wood fire oven. Nice hammocks on the beach, large rooms with nice set up with everything we needed, extremely comfortable beds. Family rooms were perfect, great AC. Open air breakfast on patio with lots of nice fresh options with both made to order and buffet. Loved the homemade yogurt and granola amazing fruit. Dinner was excellent, yummy drinks! Feels very safe in Placencia and all over Belize, we rented a car and easily drove to Placencia 2.5 hours. My sister flew and they let her family take an earlier flight to get in earlier, said it was great. Nice vibe there lots of restaurants and shops resort is close to main areas. Ocean with warm water, excellent snorkelling and hiking tours. This is our second family trip with our 11 & 15 year old to Belize because we love Belize so much!

CanadaWe did not have tap water in our unit at times (and had to speak to the front desk about turning our water back on; some of the finishes and furniture in the unit was worn and tired (the paint on the bedroom doors is peeling, vanity is water damaged and bathtub did not work in unit #707); and the WiFi was slow or nonfunctional at times.
The grounds, pool and beach are beautiful; the location is proximate to the Village and convenient to other restaurants; staff were friendly and the food and cocktails were excellent.

BelizeI think the bar and restaurant are pricey when compared with other restaurants and bars on the peninsula.
There is nothing to complain about: It’s exceptionally clean, very quiet with adequate parking if you drive your own vehicle.

CanadaThe hotel needs some modernization / upgrades, for instance, the pool floor is chipping, the beach loungers have lots of wear and tear, the dock/pier is close to the end of it's life cycle it needs some major attention, etc. The restaurants are quite over priced, and the 10% resort fee is something they need to address (they add it to every bill at the restaurants). We luckily had a rental car, which allowed us to go down Placencia Road every evening to other restaurants. Much more variety and no ridiculous prices. A disappointment was the small circular pool (looks like a hot tub). It is not heated. We would have enjoyed the small pool if it was heated, especially during the cooler evenings.
Rooms by the beach were comfortable and clean. The room got cleaned daily, which was great! I loved that the rooms all have kitchens, so you can do your own cooking. The beach was relatively clean and well maintained. In the evening the Lagoon side looks beautiful with all the lights. Pool was big and water was clean.

United StatesThe beds were a bit too firm for me and I woke up with some discomfort the first morning. I have lower back issues, so a pillow between my knees and stretching every morning solved the problem.
Very professional and helpful staff. Everyone was very nice and responsive to the simplest requests. We ate out a lot at the other resorts (just interested to see the other properties, the food at Laguna is very good), and we arranged for taxis through the front desk. Easy. We booked 3 trips via the Adventure concierge (Alton) and he was awesome. We booked the Monkey River tour because of the way Alton described it (the internet write up wasn't that appealing). It was a highlight of our trip, and our guide (Terry) was amazing and so knowledgeable. We saw (and heard) the monkeys, crocodiles, lots of birds, a manatee (super hard to spot but Terry knew exactly where to look based on their feeding behavior) and more. Even our guide was impressed with all the wildlife we saw that day. Go early before all the other boats/tourists arrive and while the wildlife is out and about. Very nice meal at local village restaurant.

Trinidad and TobagoOn the last day, the ac unit started icing up, it really didn't bother us much but the liquid was dripping on electricals below. We unplugged everything and reported it at check out. It didn't change our general rating of the resort. Also, Laguna was excellent for breakfast but we were a little disappointed with dinner.
Everything about this stay was excellent. Rooms were comfortable. Kitchen was excellent even though we didn't use it. I loved that there was drinking water so we didn't have to keep buying bottled water.

United StatesFar from town although I had a car and felt the quiet was worth the 15-20 minute drive. Drinks and food VERY expensive for the area (I have never had a tiny $50 margarita in Belize and I come here a lot). Lots of better, less expensive options nearby. I got robbed and almost carjacked driving here from the airport. Not the resorts' fault but just beware it is not a safe area and the cops are pretty shady.
Beautiful place, very large room with wonderful bed and very white, fresh sheets and pillows. The property is lovely and surprisingly quiet and uncrowded despite it being peak of high season. Adventure desk guy was nice and very helpful.
