Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe shared bathrooms were so incredibly hot. While drying yourself after the shower you’d already be sweating again. The pillows are very flat which i didn’t like, but thats personal preference.
Located on the main street, average sized room. Very basic, but also very cheap for Belize!!

United KingdomRoom is very basic, as are the facilities. Our room was enormously hot (oven-like) and we woke up every morning feeling hot and sticky. We had the fan on full-blast all night which helped, but we felt guilty using that much power all the time...
The hotel was easy to find and had all the facilities we needed. Staff were friendly and the garden area was nice. Lovely breeze flies through the outside area from the sea. Good location - close to The Split. Also right next to a great street BBQ place which served lovely sausages and meats. Also had a small private cool-down area with steps off the nearby jetty where we could get into the sea and laze around under a thatched covering with a beer (see left of photo).

United KingdomThe outside kitchen was a disgrace. I don’t think they actually expect you to use it! I asked for a towel to dry dishes and my hands but they said no! There is no bin in the main kitchen area so I’m supposed to break my eggs into the pan, walk round with the eggshells to the disgusting bin area and then cut my bread with my dirty hands (because they won’t provide a towel) and then eat. It was ridiculous and unhygienic
The location was amazing, sea view room up on the way to the split so quiet at night but just a few minutes to the restaurants and bars

United KingdomOur initial arrival was however disappointing, as the customer care/service of the owners was less than desired and made my family most uncomfortable. Blackout or dark curtains to cover the windows would be a great addition.
This stay was overall enjoyable. The staff are courteous, very welcoming and accommodating. Taking all things into consideration, my family and I did enjoy our stay.

United KingdomUnfortunately, our stay was coloured by the selfishness of another group, who occupied the (quite small) shared kitchen area every night of our stay, getting progressively louder as they got drunker, and making it very difficult to use the facilities. Not a reflection on the guest house itself, but if you’re reading this, don’t be those guys!
A lovely place in a prime location on the main high street of Caye Caulker, just a short walk from both the Split and the Stingray beach. Great value for money.

CanadaThe property was generally quiet, but my room was a bit noisy at times due to loud people on their way home from bars late at night.

CanadaI was really pleasantly surprised by the Blue Wave Guest House. It had a really sweet, homey feel to it. The internal courtyard is quite cute and there’s an outdoor kitchen which came in handy. The place is older but it feels well taken care of and because of the courtyard and outdoor kitchen we met lots of other guests. This is a cute, chill, well cared for place to stay. I loved it.

SwitzerlandThe service was very minimalistic. Nobody showed us around, told us about discounts for the diving school next door or put effort into making us feeling welcomed, no possibility leaving the luggage for a few hours after check out and the fridge in the kitchen is way too small for the amount of guests. Also the hotel owend dock could be in better shape.
Nice guesthouse on the main road of caye Caulker, right by the water. Rooms are clean, basic and a good size. It's quiet and has all you need.

United KingdomThe guesthouse is on the Main Street so even though there are no cars on the island, we found it to be noisy in our room at night. Ear plugs are a must!
Blue Wave is in a really good location. It’s a five minute walk from both the port and the split and there are an abundance of food places within a one minute walk. We stayed in a room with a shared bathroom and these were really clean throughout our stay - in fact, our room was cleaned daily. There’s a small outdoor kitchen that you can use but only to make basic things. There’s also a small fridge for guest use. The outdoor area has hammocks and there’s a private deck area for guests to access the water - nothing fancy but good to get away from the loud bars on the split! Our room was small but clean and had everything that we needed. For the price we paid (booking in advance made a big difference), we were very happy.

United KingdomNot something the hotel can help, but as a result of its location which is great for all restaurants etc, you can get some noise from passing people late at night and early morning. This noise is not constant but occasional so it depends on how deeply you sleep.
Access to kitchen facilities, clean, good ac and WiFi. I would recommend Paradise cafe next door for breakfast
