Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Statesreally, nothing not to like if you have the right expectations. No on site food or bar, but literally next door to one on the best restaurants in the village, rum fish. And a very decent pizza place, Chachi's. Breakfast was two minutes away at Wendy's or DShack. Studio was small, but efficient and very adequate for a solo traveler.
Great location, easy access to everything needed in the village. Central hub for beach. Restaurants, bars, shops, and only a short taxi to the airport. On site staff was super friendly and helpful. Even a couple longer term tenants shared advice and tips. The walk to the pier (for snorkeling or dive tours) was about 2 minutes. The clean beach (due to the current sargassum situation) is adjacent to the pier. As far as I could see, it was the only place you could walk directly into the sea and swim without wading through 20 feet of dead sea grass. The rooms are arranged around a cozy courtyard with a communal picnic table, perfect for enjoying a take out or home cooked meal. Hot plate and microwave in the room. The place is very quiet at night and you wake to chirping birds in the morning. The complimentary SUP boards and bikes are a nice way to spend time and see the surrounding area.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, The villas are located close to the best public swimming area on the peninsula, restaurants and stores, We were able to use their bicycles, kayak and paddle board for no further cost, which was great! The kitchen is equipped enough to make all your meals. You can sit outside and enjoy the well maintained grounds.

United StatesWhat’s not to like?
We thought the location was perfect. The individual free-standing cottages gave the touch of privacy to the neatly nestled communal setting, perfect for a group gathering. The cabins were cute and neat, and just a bit rustic, which is just right for families with kids.

United StatesThis is our second stay at Placencia Villas. We love the compact but efficient "Butterfly" cabin for it's kitchenette (family meals), two bedrooms, screened in 2nd floor veranda and little hidden location right in the middle of the village (close to everything-- groceries, restaurants, swimming, etc!). We will be back!

SwitzerlandI had Parrot room - It was quite loud from nearby bar/restaurant. You could also hear anyone walking in the room upstairs. The price for such a simple room was high for me - I've stayed in 4 different places on weekends in Placencia and this one was the worst value for money.
Very helpful staff. Location is central (Placencia is small enough that all places are nearby).

United StatesThe beds. Caveat: I am 56 years old with spine disorders so have to be very careful where I stay. I figured it would be fine for one night but I would definitely inquire before staying again whether there was a room with a better mattress. (preferably thick, firm, and king sized, though I'm not sure there are any king sized beds on the property due to the size of the rooms.)
We only spent one night because we were catching a boat the next morning to Ranguana Caye. The location was perfect - walking distance to great restaurants, coffee shops, juice bar, and the Municipal Pier. The little cottages were cute and cozy and enjoyed meeting folks in the "conversation circle" in the common courtyard. It was also the only place we stayed in Belize with an air conditioner which was much needed due to being in the southern part of the country and not on a beachfront property with a breeze.
