Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesBathroom is small but adequate. You will hear the early morning church bells every where in town.
Comfy bed, awesome air-conditioning in bedroom. We had the 2 bedroom apartment as that's what was available when we booked. No breakfast but full kitchen and walking distance to open air market and shops. We enjoyed the patio outside the room, too. We agree with another poster who mentioned it's a bit odd. However, it's a great budget place to stay. Great views of town from bar on upper floor. Owner allowed luggage storage as we did an overnight in Tikal and then returned to San Ignacio for another night.

NetherlandsVery big room with an excellent kitchen and a cozy outdoor patio. The location is excellent, just off Burns Avenue towards the hills. You can walk to the city center in 3 mins to one direction and to Iguana sanctuary/Maya choco experience to the other direction about the same time. Extremely welcoming owner with good tips around town. They have a Marie Sharp's hot sauce shop and a chill lounge bar upstairs. They also provide cooking classes. Decent internet, 10.81MB/s down, 21.07MB/s up with 73ms latency.

United StatesThe shower and bathroom area could use a little fresh caulking but otherwise the entire room and area was perfect for our visit! If we had stayed longer than 2 nights it would have been even better!
The owner was so sweet and took such good care of us. She recommended restaurants when we got in about 10pm, called up taxis for us, recommended places to go or how to get across the Guatemala border. She was amazing! I felt like our family had an angel looking for us!

United StatesThe building was on a hill so the room only had two small windows that felt like basement windows. And there were big ice machines outside of the window that were pretty noisy. That being said, there was a rooftop patio and a nice swing chair on the room level, so easy options for getting natural light.
Good size room and bathroom with comfortable beds. The host was extremely nice and helpful!

The rooms are very spacious and have AC. There is a small kitchen available in the shared space. The staff was caring and open to our requests (we left our backpacks there for half a day after checking out)

My room was incredibly clean and spacious. The bathroom was also huge, but the tub was awkward to get in to (I'm short). Charlene was the best host a traveler could ask for! I hope she has a great vacation this summer- she earned it.

We were greeted by the owner who showed us around. There is a small kitchen to use and the room was comfortable with a large bathroom. The building is close to the center of town and had parking for customers. There is also a small seating area on the roof with a bar if you want to stay in.

United StatesInternet connectivity was sometimes spotty with a weak signal.
Nice location away from the busy and trafficked portions of town yet close enough to be accessible. The two bedroom apartment was clean, quite, and well furnished, the kitchen in particular, which was welcomed since we regularly cooked our meals there. The owner's mother and brother were very friendly and welcoming, creating a nice and warm "family feeling" to the place. Having a beer in the bar on the top deck was a pleasant way to end the day.

This property is centrally located and only a few minutes walk from the main street of San Ignacio. There is parking on site. San Ignacio is a great base for arranging tours to ATM cave, Caracol and Xunantunich. Cahal Pech and Green Iguana Conservation Project is within walking distance of the property. The apartment is very clean and has decent size rooms with air conditioning and fans. There is also a well stocked kitchen with a coffee maker, kettle, oven and a microwave. Charlene- the host lives upstairs of the building. She is very friendly, approachable and happy to help with any questions or requests. Thank you Charlene for your great hospitality. You made our visit to San Ignacio very special and welcoming. There is also a charming little rooftop bar on the top floor of the building with swings and a great view. It is a great place to hang out in the evening with a beer. The bar also runs a Marie Sharp chilli sauce and jam tasting experience, which we really enjoyed and also great value for money. We spent very enjoyable seven nights at this property and can highly recommend this place to anyone visiting San Ignacio.
