Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe only thing I can think of is probably a bit more drawer space, which would be especially useful for those with a longer stay.
What made our stay at L'Arvidienne exceptional was the hospitality, warmth and helpfulness of our host, Mireille! It was a real treat to begin each day of sight-seeing with delicious and varied breakfasts (lots of fruits, different types of breads and cereals, as well as hot dishes such as crêpes or omelettes, all freshly made). Her breakfasts nourished both the body and spirits. We had the opportunity during our stay of meeting her other guests: The breakfast conversations were enjoyable and enlightening, particularly regarding what others found to be worth visiting in Québec City. The B&B is situated at the western end of the Plains of Abraham, with easy access to Vieux Québec as it is easy to pick up several different bus lines that either take one into the walled city or the Parliament buildings right outside the old city walls. Mireille is wonderful at providing that kind of useful information. Walking is also an option (even in winter!) as we could walk through the Plains of Abraham park to, for example, the Musée de Beaux Arts (the Inuit collection there is fantastic). Our stay in the Van Gogh room provided all that we needed. And because we weren't in the thick of the tourist areas in the old city, we were able to have peaceful and restful recharging for the next day.

United StatesWe were in the Renoir room which is very small, and it was a little hot and stuffy. You cannot open the windows. She does provide a fan which helps. The bed was rather hard. The bathroom was tiny.
The hostess was charming, kind and helpful, and made delicious breakfasts! She spoke fluent English as well as French. We loved the upstairs outdoor balcony where we ate our take out dinner one evening, and there is a nice covered seating area in the backyard.. The location was across from the Plains of Abraham which is a lovely park and you can walk to Old Town but it is a bit of a hike. The B& B is on a main street with a bus route so you can take the bus back from Old Town.

CanadaNo bath fan in the bathroom which I was using. But there is a small window instead. So it might not be a big problem because a lot of old buildings was set up like this.

AustraliaBeautifully appointed room overlooking the pretty garden & boulevarde. The room was quiet and bed comfortable. The bathroom is small but functional. Breakfast was excellent both mornings and we enjoyed chatting with the hosts and other guests. Parking space at rear of the property was great. The host provided great advice about seeing Quebec and local shopping. We would definitely stay again.

United StatesMireille is the most welcoming host— our flight was delayed by 12 hours and she was very responsive and helpful when we arrived. We also needed to store luggage after checkout and we did that with no problem. The room was spacious and cute and the shower was nice. The homemade breakfast with fresh fruit and freshly made bread and omelette was amazing and Mireille was flexible with breakfast time and super friendly to talk to. We don’t speak French at all and it was absolutely no issue. The location is nice and quiet but also centrally located on Grande Allée and easy to walk downtown on a nice day- about 30 min walk or quick bus to the old town. Highly recommend and will stay again!

Mirielle was a very gracious and inviting host. We had a homeade breakfast each day, which was better than many. We slept well as the bed and pillows were very comfortable and the room was well sound proofed. You could feel that it was really important for her that her guests felt comfortable and at ease.
