Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesHad to pay for garage parking nearby - bit of a bummer.
We absolutely loved our stay at JA. The location was perfect for walking to old town and around other areas of the city. The rooms were clean and cute - definitely small but plenty of room for the two of us. We are a queer/LGBTQ couple and felt safe and comfortable here. The crescents were the best we’ve ever had. We will be back!

CanadaNothing. Everything is as promised or better.
The upkeep and decor of the place is amazing. There are comfortable common spaces with interesting antiques to look all around. There is a delicious and ample breakfast each morning and food restrictions are accomodated. While not everything was dairy-free, there were sufficient choices for me and the staff was helpful about looking up ingredients for things that were not already specified.

United StatesThe parking situation was a challenge. The recommended nearby garages were either under construction or too short for our SUV (a Toyota forerunner) so we had to circle around a bit.
Location was perfect, the restored home and decor charming, and the shared areas were cozy and relaxing. Beautifully decorated for Christmas.

CanadaWe liked everything!
We loved the festive and traditional decor of the auberge. It was so nice to have access to shared living spaces - the kitchen, dinning room, TV room and solarium - which really made it feel like home. The atmosphere was calm since there are only a few rooms. The owner and staff were all super friendly and had helpful tips for sightseeing, shopping, and restaurants. The auberge is well-located and is surrounded by nice coffee shops and restaurants. It's only a 10-minute walk to the old town.

United StatesNothing.
The breakfast was great and the location was excellent with restaurants right across the street and the bakery and mini specialty market downstairs. It was very nice to have access to the parlor, kitchen, and breakfast area. The fresh cookies in the afternoon were a pleasant surprise. Everything was very clean and very historical/quaint. The water pressure was very strong, better than most new hotels. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

United StatesIt looked like in pictures that my room would be larger and would have a bathtub. There were no actual pictures of my room on booking.com. My room was very small.
Very cute, quaint place to stay in the heart of Quebec City. Loved being in such a walkable area full or restaurants and shops. Could also walk to old Quebec and the train station easily.

CanadaThis is a wonderful, quaint place and would not be suitable for someone who has mobility difficulties, given the stairs required to access the rooms.
Beautifully restored Inn close to the Old City, adjacent to a wonderfully curated and owned 'general store' with cheeses, wines and coffees. Quirky, tastefully decorated, a place to step back in time, peacefully. Charming living areas in addition to the bedroom. Lovely breakfast.

United KingdomThe buts with staying here are firstly, the stairs are a challenge with big cases, we had two sets of stairs to negotiate to get to our room. Secondly our room (room 1) was quite small. Don't get me wrong the room is lovely in terms of decoration and comfort, but we could not have our suitcases open other than on the bed to get to our clothes...so if you have big luggage and can afford it don't book a standard room.
The auberge is an excellent place to stay, it is very nicely maintained and decorated to reflect the age of the property. Breakfast was very nice (although available from 0830 which is a little late). A continental affair, breads, bagels, yoghurt etc with coffee on tap 24hrs a day. If the weather is good, like it was for us, you can take breakfast out on to the terrace to eat. You can also make use of the kitchen facilities, we did not want to eat out one evening and so we went to a nearby supermarket and bought food which we ate back at the auberge. Our room (room 1) did not have a TV, but there is a large screen TV to use in one of the common areas if you wanted. The auberge is only 10 mins walk from the city walls, all tourist spots are easily walkable from the auberge, which is positioned in a nice neighbourhood, the road outside is only one way, is pedestrianised at the weekend so does not get too busy. There are many shops, cafes and bars nearby. Just to say we dragged our big heavy cases from the central railway station to the auberge when we arrived. Google said it was only a 15min walk, however what Google didn't say was that there was a steep climb enroute and the pavements killed the wheels on our suitcases (duck tape required from a local hardware shop to carry out running repairs!). We took an Uber from the auberge to the cruise terminal which only cost us $11.

United StatesCan't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay. The auberge was beautifully decorated with period furniture and artwork. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The location was also terrific, in close walking proximity to the center of Old Quebec. Parking was also very convenient. We would love to stay here again on our next visit.
