The Hostel is located in one if the most popular street of old Montreal, full of restaurants, shops, souvenirs, very close to the shore and walking distance of the metro Place D’Arms.

The cleanliness was pretty poor. Like most hostels, the toilets were not cleaned to often. One of the biggest downsides was space in the bathrooms/showers. I hope the hostel reads this and considers putting in multiple hooks or small ledges in all bathrooms and showers. We tried so hard not to drop any clothes or other items because the floor was usually wet and dirty (always wear slippers!). As others have mentioned, the showers are pretty small, but they do what you need them to. Good water pressure and hot water, so no major issues there.

The location of this hotel was fantastic! Walkable to the port and minutes from Notre Dame Basilica. It was great to park the car and walk Old Montreal. The front desk staff was friendly. We were on the upstairs floor so did not encounter them again after check-in. The other guests were polite and pleasant, but this is out of your control. We stayed in a 6-bed room, and luckily they could place our entire group of 6 together (recommend you ask in advance!). Very spacious lockers made storing items easy while we were out. We could fit entire suitcases in them! But bring your own locks.

The accommodation is quite expensive. I felt if we spend 20-30$ extra we could have got a separate room instead of shared dormitory.

One thing I really didn’t like. Lack of organization of traveller’s place. I mean there are best practices which make stay way more comfortable, like personal plug and source of light just for each particular bad. Apart of this, great place!

Unisex bathroom (showers) could be strange for some guests, and there is not enough room inside the shower. Hostel could organize some activities to create more interaction with the guests (ex: trivia night, walking tour)

The location is amazing. at the center of old Montreal. You can walk for most of the tourist places. Also, it is near the subway station that helps a lot. Very good cost-benefit

There was no teapot / water in the building (the reception is next door to where I stayed), adding a mini-kitchen there could be cool.

Well, it's a hostel, and as a hostel it was decent. The stuff was friendly, they even provided towels, though didn't have to, and were generally responsive. The showers and toilets were available fine (but I did get up early). And the room wasn't noisy.

The bathrooms and showers were filthy. The windows in our room had garbage bags over it and the window didn't open. The central air system was working well though. The electrical outlets at the bed didn't work and many of the common area ones didn't work.

I liked the common room and kitchen. The rooms are a nice size. The staff were great! Great location.

I paid for a bed in a 6-bed room with a view, but I got a bed in a 12-bed room on the ground floor.

Unbelievable location directly in the heart of the old town, within easy walking distance of everything and accessible by transit.

The only think I didn't enjoyed was that the beds are quite squeeky and it would be even better to have some curtains on them for more privacy. As the location is right in the centre, you need to be aware that it takes a moment to walk to the next supermarket (about 16 min) and prices of the (numerous) bars and restaurants around are a bit higher than in other parts of town, as the area is very touristic. However, not a reason not to go here!

Very nice hostel right in the centre of Montréal. Cozy athmosphere in the common area, nice crowd and very friendly and welcoming staff. Everything was superclean and the kitchen equiped with everything you need. I would definitely come back again.

The hostel had a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The staff at Alt Hostel were incredibly friendly and attentive. Alt Hostel's central location was also a major plus, making it easy to explore the city and access nearby attractions and transportation. Overall, I highly recommend Alt Hostel for its cozy ambiance, friendly staff, and convenient location. It was a memorable and enjoyable experience, and I would gladly stay there again in the future.
