The location couldn’t be more perfect—centrally located and yet a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of commercial Stratford. Amanda and John are lovely hosts, gifted at anticipating needs. John’s breakfasts are artful and delicious! The house has been lovingly restored and thoughtfully appointed, with comfortable spaces to relax and eye-catching art. Our room was airy and welcoming. The deck and the old lilac blooming outside our window were special treats.

Nothing it was great!

The breakfast was amazing!! Fresh berries and Oatmeal. Smoked Back Bacon done on premises. Beautiful Crème Brule French Toast that was to die for. Fresh made cornbread. It was just delicious.

Beautiful house and wonderful hosts, plus within very easy walking distance to the town centre, theatres, and lakefront. We felt so welcomed and the breakfast was delicious. Would love to stay here again!

The room had no climate control and it was a bit cool.

The home is well maintained and decorated tastefully with some really unique furniture. The breakfast exceeded our expectations in every way. Local, fresh, unique, delicious, and filling. The host introduced each course as it was delivered. One of our best breakfast experiences at a Bed and Breakfast.

I didn't like having to leave after one night. Had time permitted, I would have stayed a few more nights.

The room I stayed in was perfectly self-contained and decorated with a beach house feel; there was even a private patio The hosts were welcoming but not intrusive, and the family-style breakfast was a wonderful opportunity to discuss the productions we saw. As a vegan, their breakfast menu didn't have a lot of options for me, but they very kindly pulled together a fruit and spinach smoothie for me, and the steel cut oats were delicious and filling. If you like meat, they cure and smoke their own back bacon from local pork. The house is located within walking distance of all three theatres and the downtown area, which is great if you aren't driving!

Not a thing. We were only sorry to leave and hope to stay at Avery House again on future visits.

We loved the family style of serving breakfast - so you get a chance to meet and chat with other guests. And what a breakfast! We were completely spoiled by fresh baking, home cured meat and delicious flavour combinations. This sounds like a review of a multi-course dinner but I really am talking about breakfast! Our king-sized bed was super comfortable and we enjoyed the chance to sit out on our private balcony among the beautifully flourishing flower boxes.

Breakfast portion a bit small. Safety issues: 1) A floor mat slid around too much. 2) An ottoman, on wheels that should have locked but did not when I sat on it. Whoops!

Location excellent for our purposes. Breakfast was nice. Decor and upkeep was lovely. Hosts were welcoming. Enjoyed the company of other guests at breakfast.

VERY minor - we would have loved to sit out on the balcony to read and relax at the end of the evening, but there are no lights out there. But at least there was a sofa in the room to relax on, and we were able to enjoy the balcony in the morning with tea and coffee before breakfast.

Breakfast was delicious, esp the blueberry cornbread! I found a new loose-leaf tea and was directed to where I could buy some to take home. It was nice comparing notes with other guests over breakfast about what plays they had seen or were going to see. In spite of being on the main street, it was very quiet in the house, and we never heard any of the other guests either.

The cleanliness and recent remodeling was a surprise. I was expecting to come to a worn out and tired place. It made our trip very pleasant. Breakfast was nice too. We had a lovely stay and enjoyed the space a lot!

The proprietors, Amanda and John, were warm and gracious and made every effort to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We would recommend the Avery highly to anyone visiting Stratford, Ontario.

We were in the front room and the road noise was very loud, I realize that being on the main street this is something out of the establishment’s control, but I was surprised at how many trucks go by in the early hours.

The house was clean, lovely, and very close to theatres and downtown. The host was very pleasant.

my room size was a bit small, but you don't go to these places staying in a room. i would rather have a choice to sit alone instead of family style.
