The hostel is clean, cosy and offers everything you need for a few nights. It is really close to the By market. The owner is lovely and helpful. For example, we could leave our bags for the day at the reception. We will come back for sure during the summer !

Without parking and with so much late night/drug activity close by, it was very costly to park the car for the 2 nights in a safe location. Not much was available

The house is old cause of this floor makes noise while walking. Its not a big thing but u need to put your step softly if you dont want to disturb other household 😊

I was concerned about some google ads that referred to the hostel as for women only! This confused me when i was doing the booking and i had to call the hostel owner ( at the Swiss hotel next door) to confirm. It is for all adults, men and women.

The location is fantastic in downtown Ottawa in proximity to places of interest. Very clean. Very helpful reception. Good kitchen amenities.

The area was a bit sketchy with homeless shelters down the block, but not too threatening. Only a single shared bathroom with a shower and toilet. Beds could be comfier. Check-in is next door at the Swiss Hotel. Must use stairs to get to your room.

Lovely attendants at the hotel. Very clean facility (as you must remove your shoes at the door). Nice sized shared kitchen and living room. Small capacity with four rooms, so only a few people coming in and out. Easy access from public transportation. Walking distance to all the sights. It's quieter since it's off the main road.

There are some homeless people around making noise in the night time. Which was disrupting my sleep. Also, I would suggest to have some full size mirror in the room. If possible.

Regarding the Barefoot Hostel, the only inconvenience we encountered was the check-in time at 3:00 PM and the check-out time at 11:00 AM. However, this was mitigated by the option to leave our luggage there while taking a walk around the city

I didn't stay because nowhere was it mentioned that check in closes at 10pm until I had paid and was on my plane. So I stood for 20min outside in the rain trying to attract the manager before having to shift to another hotel at a much higher cost.

Beds were stiffer than expected. Downstairs shower was way too small. Upstairs shower needs renovating but is okay.

Very home-like experience! Full kitchen, large tv with access to netflix. Amazing location at the heart of Ottawa social life!

I liked everything

It's not often one gets to meet the owner of the hotel one stays, but I'm sure glad that I did. Sabina's customer service skills are impeccable! She welcomed us and made the check-in process quite pleasant. I really do love the minimalist and delicately curated pieces of decor throughout the room and the hotel. The facilities were wonderful and clean. I will certainly make this destination my choice of stay when I return to Ottawa.

I cannot name one thing, we would always come back!!!

The hostel is more like a whole house that you share with a couple of girls. We felt like we were at home. It has everything you need, well-resourced kitchen, comfortable living room, clean bathroom with a big shower and on top of a very friendly host!
