How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

A sink in tea room to tidy up dishes, a sitting area would have been awesome but understand the space.
Excellent location and the beds were very comfortable, great for exploring Halifax!

A fellow 85-year old traveller found the stairs a little slippery without shoes. Also, the outside steps seem a little narrow and could be trimmed back for safety in climbing and descending.
Breakfast was not included but there was a good kitchenette where we were able to prepare coffee which was provided. The best feature is the location, its proximity to many interesting city centre highlights.

Comfy Stay was very well appointed. There were plenty of towels, and some nice extras in the bathroom like razors, shower caps, and huge bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The pantry contained some basics like salt and pepper and olive oil. We were guests during Hurricane Lee, and our host ensured that we had a hurricane lamp in case of a power outage (which did occur). This was thoughtful and appreciated.

The kitchen could be more functional, but for out trip it was enough.
Great location, very safe area, spacious apartment, good price and very friendly and caring host Yi. Check in was super easy as well

Cleanliness is always one of those things. We have a very high standard and can't compare it with Switzerland. When we travel, we have to get used to the fact that it is not so clean everywhere. That's ok too. The predecessor of this apartment did not take it so seriously with the washing dishes. The microwave also needed a cleaning. It was also poorly sound- proofed All in all, it was ok.
The location of the apartment is on a quiet street and centrally located. Close to shopping and dining. The care provided by the owner was very accommodating, helpful and kind.

Would have been great to have a sink in the tea room to wash our dishes.

Very quiet location Lots of amenities close by We took the bus multiple times as it was easily accessible rather than drive We enjoyed our dinner from the king of donair restaurant that was nearby Generous on toiletries and kitchen supplies, including sanitizing wipes. Overall, it was a pleasant and very comfortable stay. I would highly recommend it. The host was very kind and helpful upon our arrival

The owners are aware of some issues with damp/mold and are working to mitigate those. Same is true for some noisy appliances.
Very clean, great location, quiet and safe neighborhood, and plenty parking. Good AC/heat system, as well as two efficient de-humidifiers

Hurricane Fiona!
The communication, both directly with the owner as well as Booking.com was exceptional. They took the initiative in how to best navigate through the process of re-booking due to Hurricane Fiona. I was informed promptly when the power and wifi was restored and compensated fairly for the gaps due to the hurricane. It was reassuring to know that my queries during and after the hurricane we’re top of mind. At no time was I left hanging and wondering when someone would get back to me. The rental itself was charming and comfy. Centrally located in a great neighbourhood, I was minutes away from all the attractions of Halifax. If I were to return to Halifax, I would re-book at Comfy Stay without hesitation.

I had not realized that the house was 3 separate units from looking at the photos, but the descriptions provided more clarity.

If you are taller than 180cm you need to duck under a beam in the living room.
The host did everything to ensure we had a pleasant stay, even greeting us and helping us late in the night when our flight was delayed.

The only thing that I didn’t like is I believe the room doorknob needs to be upgraded as I had a hard time opening and closing it with the key, not sure if it’s just me because it was my first time using that type/kind of key.
Cleanliness and the location as it is closed to many restaurants and downtown is around 30mins walk only.

The extra beds were small single beds better for kids than adults
The apartment was spacious and bright. It was close to everything - we walked to the downtown Harbor front and there are many nice restaurants and cafes nearby. The owners were pleasant and helpful.
