Nothing everything was perfect. We didn’t want to leave.

Location, location location was simply stunning overlooking Cook Lake. The property was extremely well appointed and Kristy had thought of everything, fabulous comfy accommodation, pristine. The fridge was stocked with food Homemade apple juice (sorry Kristy we drank it all), orange juice, milk of various percentages, eggs and homemade jams. Fresh loaf of bread, cereals. A delicious pot roast in the oven, salad and dressing in the fridge for when we arrived, throughly enjoyed a homemade meal..Everything was so neatly organised, Kristy explained everything we needed to know. Bistro table and chairs on the deck, Kristy even supplied mosquitos burner and spray. There is no Wi-Fi signal so you are off grid, which is not a bad thing for a few days. You park at the top and walk down the gravel path to the private property, a buggy is available for luggage and bags to be trolled down. A small boat is available for guests to take on the lake, which we did, life jackets are hung up for guests to use.

Breakfast was good. Made coffee with the coffee press. Cooked up some eggs and toast and had yogurt all from the well stocked fridge. The location was perfect for me, splitting up the drive from Whitehorse to Stewart. It's a beautiful place in a pristine area on the lake. Its got every thing you need. I actually read a book on the deck overlooking the lake in the evening.

I can't think of any improvements. Great as is !

We liked everything about cooks & puppies hideaway. The website does not do this place justice. If I would have known how awsome it was I would have booked 2 or 3 nights instead of only one. From the view of the lake and mountains to the exceptional host and wonderful facilities I have to give it a 5 star plus 5 more rating.

Mosquitos. There was a device that sprays a toxic substance in the air so mosquitoes die fairly quickly but despite this they were still somehow getting into the cabin in droves even with the windows shut and the sink sealed and the door closed tightly. There must be some sort of holes that they are getting in through this time of year. This time of year in the beginning or middle of July is absolutely atrocious for mosquitoes I suppose in that area. They started to get really bad as the evening began and went on and we had to put our head nuts on when we were trying to sleep which was tough. I don’t think there’s anything the host could do about this problem aside from figuring out a way to seal off the cabin more. Everything else about this day is fantastic so the only problem I could ever see someone having at this place is mosquitoes. We unfortunately had to leave early around 4 AM because mosquitoes were too much to handle when we were trying to sleep. If someone stays here during this time of year that I suggest bringing some more protection against these bugs.

Every single thing about this property is great

The cabin was cozy and clean. I felt as comfortable as if I was in my own home. I didn't see the host but they were personable from afar. The view was amazing! I arrived at night so seeing the lake and mountains for the first time in the morning was a surprise, the pictures don't do justice!

This was by far the most relaxing place I've ever stayed.

It was hard for me to think of anything to put under "dislike" category. It wasn't at all a problem for me, but the steep staircase to access the bedroom could be a problem for some people.

The cabin was well furnished and extremely comfortable. The food was expertly prepared and home cooked. Dinner was chili, homemade bread, and a garden salad with really fresh ingredients. Breakfast was help yourself, and there were a lot of options to choose from. I had eggs and toast with some delicious homemade jam. The place is really quiet, tucked in between two small hills next to a lake, and the view outside really is as beautiful as the pictures suggest. When I booked, I chose this cabin based only on it's location. I saw (on another site) that there is an outhouse, so I thought I would be "roughing it," but it turned out to be immaculately clean, and this was by far the most luxurious accommodation on my trip from Washington to Alaska. The cabin was perfect, and I feel lucky to have stumbled upon such a fantastic place. When I arrived, the cabin was warm already because it was very well insulated, but I put a fire in the wood-burning stove anyway. There was plenty of warm bedding, lights, a place to charge your phone, and a hot shower. Everything was immaculately clean, and seemed really new, the bedding, the kitchen and the living room furniture all seemed thoughtfully coordinated. Also there were a lot of pillows on the bed ranging from very firm to very soft, which is very important to me, and often overlooked even at high end hotels. I never could have imagined such a comfortable place so close to nature. Since I was on a long road trip, I was focused on the road ahead, and I didn't realize how much I needed to relax, but this place allowed me to unwind to an extent that I haven't done in a long time. I'm not usually one to feel this way, but the extreme quiet, along with the collection of books and magazines make the lack of Internet an advantage, since it removes distraction. If I'm ever on the Stewart-Cassiar Highway again, this place is a must stop. I only regret that I didn't book another night here.

NO INSIDE TOILET!!! You have to traipse through the mosquitoes down stairs to the OUTHOUSE in the back.

No running water because of the temperature. Kristy did let us know in advance and left us water bottles and a bucket of lake water to boil if needed. Also it would've been nice to have a booklet of basic instructions (lighting the oven, stove, etc)

Such a beautiful area. It was nice to feel disconnected from everything. There was a wheelbarrow to bring your stuff from the car to the cabin. Dinner was DELICIOUS and the fridge was fully stocked for breakfast. The fire was already going when we showed up. The bed is sooooooo comfy. We had an incredible view of the northern lights. Kristy came by to show us the basics and answer any questions. It was a really smooth process. The cabin itself is beautiful.
