Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaIt was a little pricey for what it was. Having said that with inflation and being post Covid it’s fairly priced. Also there was no AC or heat which might be problematic for hotter and colder days but for September the fan in my room was great.
It was a nice location, clean, quiet for except a bit of local traffic now and then. No big deal. The staff was friendly and accommodating:)

CanadaTV had four channels? and three of them were the weather network, might as well not have a TV. Water handles were reversed so it took a minute to figure out why not getting hot water. Shower control was reversed also but very finicky trying to find the right temperature.
Good value and great location. Host let us in before check-in time with no hassle. Very spacious room with seperate kitchen area. Beds were comfortable but too small to sleep two people, had to sleep in separate beds. Internet was very good. Area was quiet. No AC but floor fan was sufficient for sleep on a normal August evening. Had a nice fire-pit area with wood provided however did not use on the night that we were there. Parking was excellent.

CanadaFurniture dated but suited the place. It was like a visit to a family cottage in the 1980s. Quaint, practical and comfortable.
The lodge suite provided everything we needed. It has a full kitchen, large new fridge, comfy couch, 2 big beds and good lighting. The floors are new and attractive. Having our own key allowed easy access and the lodge is quiet and private. The outdoors is functional with nice variety of sitting and a firepit. Great location to walk to beach.

AustraliaKind of wish we had stayed longer... The power went off for a while, apparently happens a bit in this little town but it really wasn't a problem for us.
Such an unexpected find - comfortable lodge in a sweet little town. We were traveling from Buffalo to Chicago and wanted to see the Canadian side. Port Burwell is lovely and the lodge was very comfortable. Host was responsive and checking in was easy. A bit different from an impersonal hotel - a lot more character to this place. Also, we found a great breakfast just across the street at Beach Patties.

United StatesThis applies to the room I choose only. Other rooms of bigger size/option have a shower. I chose a single room and by doing so, the community shower is outside the room. Restroom is in the room.
Located in the middle of quaint Port Burwell. The lodge has keyed entry for added security. Beach, lighthouse, stores, eateries are easily accessible. This lodge offers a community kitchen to its guest, Bring your own food and prepare meals as you wish!

CanadaWe had the windows open for air circulation, and it got a bit loud when people gathered for the bonfire outside the window, and cold overnight. Some of the furnishings are not the newest, but we were mostly fine with our stay.
Manager was very accommodating & responsive. He was able to give us the room that suit our needs. We got to the area a bit earlier than expected, and he was able to have us check in earlier. Location was superb - right next to the restaurants, and a few minutes walk to the beach. Room has all the amenities we needed. The long term residents there are quite nice - they offered us the bonfire when we went out in the evening.

GermanyI missed a tea pot for making more tea at a time. Some glasses and more cups or mugs would have been an asset. The bikes offered for being rented didn't look safe and well maintained.
Very kindly received by the owner as well as by the housekeeper, the room (no. 1) was larger than expected, quite newly renovated (all in wood), and well equipped with kitchenette, large fridge, toaster, water kettle, dishes, and cutlery. The bed was large and good to sleep in, the additional sofa made a comfortable place to watch TV. The little bathroom is well organized and equipped with a shower with door instead of a curtain, which I really liked.

CanadaRoom a little dusty, got some allergies.
Nice wooden cabin design. Clean and updated bathroom. Even the bed. Didn't use any of the cooking stuff. At least a fan was provided. Overall, a very comfortable one night's stay. Will definitely consider this place if I ever come to Port Burwell again.

CanadaIt was convenient to have a kitchenette in the suite but the utensils weren't very clean... not really the host's fault, probably more so the previous guests. But there were cleaning supplies available so overall not a problem.
The one-bedroom suite was fairly spacious, had a newly renovated private bathroom (with shampoo and soap provided), and a new, comfortable queen bed. Communications with the host were quick and easy. Central location in Port Burwell and close to restaurants, but it's a quiet little town so had no trouble sleeping. Other long-term residents were friendly and helpful.
