We both were having back problems so it was difficult to reach the coffee/tea fixing table that was about a foot off of the ground. Minor stuff and probably more our problem than English Country Garden.

The bed was very, very comfortable and it was lovely to have a little deck outside of our room. The room also had a seating area for two with a small table. Full size bathroom with a luxurious soaking tub too. I believe you could hike from the property as well as walk to a large pond.

We understand that, while personnel commitments have been altered everywhere, a bit of breakfast would have been a nice option and we would have been happy to pay. It was clear when we signed on that there would be none so we were OK with that.

While the location was perfect for us, having a Highland Links tee time the next morning, that is but a benevolent accident of geography. When Jalal, who is exceptionally personable, showed us the King Room we were both blown away by the decor and spaciousness. The bed, sitting area, and bathroom were just what we needed. Wish we could have stayed another night but our plans required moving on. Curiously, our friend in Glace Bay was shocked to hear we stayed at the "Garden", as she stayed there and enjoyed it with the previous owner over ten years ago.

The mosquitos are something to be aware of. We arrived late afternoon and the insects were on the attack, thankfully no problem inside the accomodation. Set in grounds with gravel or grass leading to accomodation so not easy to roll luggage but host very willing to assist. Access to top floor is only by stairs.

The host was very welcoming.

The room could not be darkened (especially problematic on a full more). It is not really very practical, either: no where to put your things, including that there is are drawers below the sink that you cannot not open (they were closed with nails). There are just a couple of hangers in the bathroom. There are so many nice figurines and such, but it makes it even less practical - all you can actually use a small table. The bath was amazing, but at the same time, it is impossible to take a shower without having water all over.

The property is nice (there is a small lake and also a trail up the hill). The location is very good for the eastern part of Cabot Trail (and amazing café just 2 min down the road, plus some shops). The room was bright (too much soo - see below) and had a nice little terrace. The best thing is the bath tub (at least in our room): you get to bath with a beautiful view (no matter what weather) which almost feel as if being outside. There are soooo many interesting books - like several small libraries. And the host let us stay at the properly after the check-out because of a business meeting we had - this was very kind of him.

Although the room was very nicely decorated it would be helpful if a couple of shelves could be put into the wardrobe. That would facilitate the placement of clothes.

The owner is really very friendly and gives good advice on places to visit, and possibilities for dinner and breakfast. We really liked that we could use the sitting areas in the house outside our own room. E.g. a very nice suite with a beautiful view on the lake. We could also use the kitchen area, and it was no problem at all to bring food and eat at nicely located tables in the general area. Our room was very nicely decorated and clean.

Only item lacking was a hair dryer.

Tranquil and private location close to nature and wildlife. Super little kitchen area. Spacious and comfortable bedroom. Upstairs and downstairs toilets.

No vanity in bathroom, just a small stand, no TV in the room , no AC ( had a ceiling fan, so we were ok). Could use a rack for a suitcase.

During our two-day stay, we suffered a lot from mosquitoes due to humidity weather. Bedides this, we had a qite pleasant stay there.

It's a big house with two beds, particularly suitable for a family with kids. Kitchen is good for preparing our simple food. The owner has provided oil, vinger and salt. He is very considetate. It's located beside the lake. We like the environment.

Bathtub - I didn't check the pictures well enough and didn't realize there wasn't a shower. The bathtub is nice but hard to actually take a cleansing bath if you're used to a shower. There are small windows above the main windows that don't have curtains, so if it's a sunny morning and you're a sensitive sleeper the light might disturb you.

Really liked that it was right on the Cabot trail. The room was comfortable and very clean. The backyard and view is really nice.
