Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaI understand it's a heritage building, but it doesn't look very well maintained. No soundproofing, you hear everything. Every night, we tried to sleep with a drill-like sound. We were told it was from the heat pump due to the air conditioner running. We woke up at 7.30 every morning to the smell of food coming into our room.
The staff was so nice and helpful.

CanadaDusty, used tissue in couch, bedroom blind broken and couldn't close, dead flies around, no off-street parking available, tv unplugged (behind cabinet- initially thought it just didn't work), dishes wet and some dirty in kitchen. Management offered to clean room next day after hearing complaints - people came in and replaced towels but didn't clean.
Room was comfortable enough and spacious. Gardens were lovely.

CanadaFrom the website, it appeared that we would be staying in the beautiful main building, but we were placed in the middle, smaller building. The bed, though large, was very soft and had a large bulge down the center which prevented my husband and I from sleeping comfortably. The air conditioner was set quite warm and we were unable to leave the patio sliding door open because the screen was torn right across and the bugs were coming in. I don't mind making my own bed and I don't need fresh linens everyday, but we were there 4 nights, and not once did a cleaning person come in to empty the garbage from the bathroom or check to see whether we had soap, shampoo, or toilet paper. Additionally, there was neither bottled water nor a coffee machine in the room. At $1600 for 4 nights, I found this overly expensive for what was offered.
The B&B is located in a lovely area of Charlottetown, easy walking distance downtown to all restaurants, pubs, shopping and coffee spots. The property is pleasant looking, 3 grand old buildings all joined across one block.

CanadaNothing. It was all really, really nice.
There is a lot to like about this property. Let's start with the staff! They were so efficient and helpful, we had to check in VERY late due to flight issues and we were sent a video on how to do that. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. The bed was the most comfortable I have slept in, in a long time. The room, albeit a bit on the smaller size, was beautiful and very clean.

CanadaRestroom in the dining area needed some attention. I should have made a note of accessibility requirements as there was no elevator.
Room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Everything worked well. Breakfast was excellent...simple, fresh ingredients, well prepared.

CanadaThe room isn’t sound proof and we could hear the people above us
We loved the location- we could walk every where we needed to go while enjoying the sites of downtown. We could eat out at the local restaurants, have a drink and not worry about driving- we brought our dog, which was an added bonus. The Inn had so much history, the grounds were well kept, lots of seating outside on the deck or in a gazebo on the property. We definitely would go back. My only suggestion would be if breakfast was included in the price of accommodations- but not a deal breaker.

CanadaNo hot water on 2nd morning!! No access to coffee/tea in building onsite. Dim doorway to room enterence, thus, could not find key hole for key. Bed was very squeaky and mattress was very uncomfortable.
Garden was very nice. Wish we had a room in any other of the buildings. They looked far better than the one we were in.

United StatesIt is past time to look at deferred maintenance and the property is in need of deep cleaning. It is a great historic inn(s) near the downtown heart of Charlottetown with a wonderful staff, but on the tired side. Our king size bed was welcome (although too soft to our liking) and it was nice to have 2 sitting chairs in the small room and very small bath. All this said, our booking was last minute and we likely got the last available room at Fairholm and even in the city!
Breakfast offerings are good and the dining space works well with a nice ambiance.
