Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe only thing that really bothered me was the mold in the shower area. There was a lot of mold on the ceiling of the showers. I have respitory issues and I ended up having an asthma attack while taking my shower because of it.
The hostel is well located with a streetcar line passing right next to it as well as other streetcar and metro lines being at walking distance.

CanadaStaff presence was nonexistent, Customer service was appalling, only one shower was working for the 2nd floor. The access card doesn’t always work and there’s no one to help ‘cause they don’t pick up the phone nor call back if you leave messages. I was locked out of the establishment for 24hrs, called endlessly, left messages, sent emails and even contacted them on Instagram to no avail. Even booking.com didn’t respond. When someone eventually came at 2pm the next day he gave me a different card and thankfully refunded me for that night. First night of a holiday in Toronto and I was looking for a comfortable park bench to spend the night!
I thot the location was great

CanadaNoisy. Noise from all the nearby restaurants/bars. Also noise from doors slamming and footsteps from the hallway. Room is a little stuffy. You can't really control the AC except turning the fan function on every half an hour or so. Couldn't figure how to get the TV to work.
Great location. Conevenient 24/7 access with key card. The toilet and showers (2 separate rooms) are generally clean.

CanadaNothing really important went wrong here. However, there were some minor incidents, as expected since the cheap price. -They had only 6 parking spots for all guests and employees so we ask to use it everyday but never got it. We had to pay A LOT for the public parking. -the wifi doesn’t work -When we arrived, there was a strong sewer smell in the staircase and hallway. -we had to ask twice for things to receive it -the balcony door is broken and difficult to open -we had to change room because the card reader was broken - we spend 2 days without toilet paper in the ladies bathroom
Great location! Right on the busy street of kensington market, a lot of nightlife and People. The balcony offer a nice view of the city.

CanadaThe rooms had an AC but the windows needed to be kept open and that pretty much rendered the AC useless. The mattresses were very old and springy and loud if you slept on them a certain way. The staff was absent and wasn't able to help out with stuff when they were looked for.
The rooms were nice and clean and the beds were moderately comfortable.

United StatesThe reception hours did not match the information provided. In email communications, the hours were listed as between 10:30am and 8pm. We arrived twice at the hostel at 6pm and the reception was already closed both times. We left the hostel at various times in the morning (10:30, 11:30, etc.) and never saw it open. We were told once by another guest that the office would open at 2pm. When attempting to reach the office by email, some of our messages remained unanswered. On the second morning of our stay, we found a homeless man asleep in the women's showers (the only ones available on our floor). Because of the seemingly random hours of the reception, we sent an email to alert them to the issue and received a reply hours later. This was related to another issue where the front of the building was used as a shelter by the local homeless. The area isn't great so its an understandable situation, but other guests might feel uncomfortable arriving later at night as the crowd outside the door was frequently drunk and loud and would shout out to people coming and going. Check-in was difficult and unclear. When initially booked, we indicated that we would arrive late on the day of arrival (10pm). We didn't receive any communication that this would be an issue. When I called to confirm the booking and that we would arrive late, I was told that unless we were able to get there by 10pm, we would be left on our own to find other arrangements for that evening (more specifically, I was told that the reception would close early and that the keys would be left next door at a smoothie shop which would close at 10pm). I was told that should I arrive late, I could receive a refund for that evening or extend the stay one more night to compensate (which was nice to hear), but it was still disconcerting to know that I had to reach out myself to learn that there was a chance we would not be able to check in that evening.
The location was good. Close to other parts of the city with easy access to public transportation. Very walkable too. The rate is also relatively inexpensive when considering Toronto prices and the location.

Philippineseverything. we waited for 30minutes outside (note: we arrived before 3pm) and the receptionist guy was not respectful at all. They were doing some renovations so it was loud, then there's only 2channels on the tv no cable at all remote doesn't work, there's no hot water in the shower room, the location is not safe and not good as the noise outside is easily heard from your room. all in all find a better hostel or a hotel. the few bucks you save by staying here isnt worth it, not worth the try

MexicoThe reception is completely ridiculous. The lady there was nice, and I don't think the ways things are run was her fault, but the hours are insane. I arrived at 8pm and no one was there. Over the course of my stay, every night I saw someone stranded out the front due as early as 5pm because nobody was in reception. It also doesnt even open in the morning until 11 or 12. There is nobody there if you need help and the check in hours are tiny and make no sense. If your flight doesn't arrive between midday and 3pm, don't bother with this place. Also my room smelled EXTREMELY bad for the entirety of my stay and was not cleaned for days, even when guests checked out. Not to mention the female bathroom was out of order the entire time, meaning I had to walk to the next floor anytime I needed the bathroom. Wouldn't recommend.
Kitchen was nice.

CanadaKensington market lively also means noisy. Drug dealers, pot smell, doggy area. St Stephens community centre next door source of homeless. May seem unsafe at first glance, but generally they dont bother you. Scan card access needs be addressed! For personal safety, scan cards need to be restricted to ones own floor, room and kitchen.
Location and price were best factors. Located in Kensington market district was fabulous, lively. Chinatown on Spadina next street over. Buses and street trolleys close. Restaurants everywhere.
