As others wrote, the blanket in the lowest booking category is pretty thin, but i had my own travel sleeping bag so didn't inquire with the host for anything more substantial. Parking is public lot in view of the police station. Took everything out of the car for the night to not attempt anyone to try their luck on the recommendation of the host.Everything worked well and I continued my journey the next morning.

Friendly host, recommended restaurants, but I was too tired at the end and not hungry enough to try one ;) Stayed one night only during a longer drive and was looking for a budget option. Served for this purpose.

The bed was not comfortable. There was no blanket provided. That night it was raining and it was so cold and I was shivering throughout the night. I didn’t inform the housekeeper as there was no one around and it was already after midnight.

Located in town and could easily find it. There was free parking available. Its just a basic backpacker accommodation and I didn’t expect much.

The host would not let us into the already paid for room. He insisted that Booking.com was hacked, that this was not his problem and that we had to cancel. This happened at 19:00 and we had to spend the night in our car. Do not book here, or be prepared to be denied entry whenever you arrive there.

The owner was very creepy. There are cameras everywhere and he would come up and just stand there staring at us. He accused us of taking the remote which we didn’t do. It wasn’t there when we got there and he tried to charge us $125 for it.

Bed uncomfortable, host seemed to try to use the cheapest things possible, could only sleep on my back. No mosquito protection installed in windows, even though Amherst has a lot of them and the host knows that. Air through AC is not an alternative, as there is none in the room. Water glasses in the room very dirty, almost all plates etc in the kitchen with visible dirt or grease, too. Ground coffee was provided, but over a year old. Washing machine would cost 10 cad and you have to bring your own soap When asking the host for the wifi password, instead of just telling me, he told me a story that my phone will receive the password automatically when I enter the room and he went away. Indeed I then received a password as a message through booking.com When he returned, he continued his story that the wifi has a sensor that sees my phone and then automatically creates an individual password for me and sends it to me. As an IT professional, I know that this story is a lie and the password looked like a generic one that every guest receives. I am unsure why he made up this complicated story instead of just answering my question or sending me the password. He then continued and said that the washing machine has a little sensor, too, and would detect how often I open and close the door, so he knows that I have to pay him, and if I don't pay, it will automatically create a payment through booking.com. Again, this story seemed to be made up. Out of curiosity, I opened and closed the door of the washing machine multiple times later that day, and nothing ever happened... Did my laundry somewhere else then. I wonder why he thinks anybody would believe this. The host was around in the common area all the time, and seemed to have a fear that people steal from him. The host talks bad about several previous guests, including on airbnb and booking.

The bathroom was dirty and we were not quite sure if the bedding sheets were changed. They were not fresh for sure.

Location is great, so as staff. The owner of the property stayed late to meet us as we arrived hours. The common area in the kitchen and living room was clean and with everything you may need.
