Hmmm. Maybe juice for breakfast? An ATM in the lobby would be good. You have an available pay phone which is nice. My cell bills from Hamilton, so every call could be long distance. And it would have been nice to see pamphlets/flyers about scenic tours. I am not a cell phone/internet/google kinda gal.

I felt safe. I planned to do some things in Ottawa but took ill, so I stayed and wandered around downtown Ottawa. It was nice. The breakfast was a little lame, but I could go to a dollar store to get an orange juice. The staff were FANTASTIC. I especially like Simon, and I made reference to his recent marriage while in the eating room. He vaguely remembered me from September. Nice. I really can't wait to return for one night with my partner, and do the tour. EXCELLENT value.

The theme of the place is exciting, the staff are friendly and you get a free tour of the hostel that was a real prison. There is a private room option.

More hooks in the room would be helpful! And the 10 a.m. loudspeaker announcement was very jarring. I understand that you need to get folks checked out by 11, but that was the only moment when we were treated like children (or inmates) rather than guests.

Superb location, comfy beds, free breakfast, great staff! You can drop your bags off too while you wait for your room or after checkout, so it was really convenient.

Very well located and close to the center of Ottawa. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. They are not super large, but the price is definitely worth it. The main attraction is definitely the fact that they've preserved almost all the features of the old prison, so it's a truly unique experience to stay there!

Doors have openings on the top and bottom, meaning that you can hear a lot of noise from the other guests. Parking not included.

Washrooms in floor 9 were a bit stinky (but I mean it's the washrooms...). Showers (floor 8) could use more pressure/warm water. Poorly equipped kitchen. If we were supposed to clean our own dishes some soap and a sponge would be nice...

Big (shared) room with enough space, own lights & USB port at bed. All clean. Very good (included) breakfast! Big common area with TV, tables could be put together for a more uniting vibe :) Hostel in general very cool because of conserved jail parts, also free jail tour. Perfect location in centre.

The rooms were noisier than i had expected because the room doors were open at the top and bottom so sounds from nearby rooms and especially the hallway (talking and even the toilets flushing from the end of the hallway) came through. I would definitely stay again in spite of these issues but might try a dorm room where i think people tend to be quieter in them because they see other people in the nearby beds.

The room, toilets, showers and common areas were spotlessly clean. The breakfast was excellent. The location was excellent, right down town. The bed was very comfortable and the reading light beside the bed was a great feature.
