Toilets weren't that clean but it's the fault of visitors after all not the stuff

It was a unique experience, they even give a free tour in the jail at checkout everyday I would definitely recommend it for those who visit Ottawa it's a must see

Upon arrival, we discovered that the room had not been completely cleaned. A chilly breeze came in through a slightly open window. Too noisy.

The hostel is in an excellent location. Amazing and helpful staff. Wonderful breakfast; we loved the bagels detail intead of the traditional toasts.

The walls are made of wood, so you could hear everything from the bed next to you, but everyone respects the silence and tranquility of the place.

I just wished there were more charging outlets and they were accessible on the top bunks. It would also be great if there were mirrors in the dorm rooms so we didn't have to take turns at the sink. On my last night, the water dispenser ran out of water. There was one in the reception but some of my roommates didn't know about it.

The location was accessible by public transport and very close to the main tourist spots. The reception was open 24/7 so no worries about late check-ins. The staff were friendly and helpful. Reading about the prisoners who used to stay in the rooms gave me goosebumps. The entire experience was very cool overall!

current renovations in the kitchen were a little confusing -> no sink in kitchen area but you are still able to make your own food

Unique accommodation. No pretence to be anything other than what it was - a jail. Just the doors removed so you can get out. Tiny cells. Good breakfast.

Even in a private cell, it's super noisy. You can hear your neighbours several cells away breathe plus all the traffic from outside. They made the walls of the prison as concave as possible so the sound travels, to make inmates uncomfortable. It's worth a night for sure, but maybe not more if you value your sleep. Despite the fact that all the rest is awesome.

The cleanliness and the staff plus the wonderful tour given by Simon. Oh and the breakfast was great. Everything except the noisiness really.

Only one WC and shower for our level (level 7). Its not enough for more than 12 people.

Very interesting building with terrific history. Nice location, good breakfast and comfortable beds. Be careful - only stairs, no conditions for people with disabilities.

The shower on my floor doesn't have hot water so I put my feedback to the reception and they start maintaining right away, but all floors have showers so it's not a big issue after all. Would be better if the hostel provides slipper since we have to share the shower.

The location is very convenient since it's within walking distance from Byward Market and Rideau Centre. I barely took the buses during my stay here. The room is small indeed but still comfy if anyone is looking for a low-budget place to sleep. The floor is designed to create an echo effect that makes any sound travels far so people are very quiet. The jail tour is fun and the tour guide man is extremely funny.

We arrived and there was almost no breakfast with 45 min left in the timing. Staff were not that inviting i alwasy felt like I was disturbing them.

The overall ambiance was very cool and great Location.
