How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

A small fan in the room would have been nice....it was quite hot during our stay.
The room was good value for pricey Penticton. I liked the feel of the hostel and the common areas. The shower was good and we were thankful for it after a few days of dry camping. Location was good for us, because we had a car. But we were able to walk to pubs and restaurants.

Wish there was plug points for each bed. Parking within property would have been great, but roadside parking was available and free on holidays.
Dormitory and Bathrooms were nice and clean. Kitchen was maintained clean too. Easy check in & check out process, service was good too.

I have nothing bad to say, everything was great 😃.
In general the accomodation in BC area is not great and extremely overpriced. This was the best hostel we stayed in and the most affordable one, but maybe it's because we were there in low season.

Door locked on arrival after checkin time...but not big deal.
Liked getting coffee right there..meeting people from different places out in yard. Kitchen was great to have use of..very clean.

It said there was air conditioning in the property info but it was extremely hot inside the rooms and the common spaces (except for the basement).
The location is perfect and price is very affordable. Great for an overnight stay!

The shower needs renovations. It was functional but definitely my least favorite part of the stay.
Location was great, steps away from the Main Street. The shared facilities (kitchen, dining area, living room, and outdoor area) were really nice. Affordable laundry (wash, dry, and detergent) available on-site.

not a lot of free parking (only 3 spots) but when I was there, there weren't a lot of other guests so it didn't matter. Attendant also tried to charge me a second time so watch out for that.

The booking app states they have ensuite bathrooms - this is not the case! Please, someone at the hostel make the time to clean the fridges or find a container system so that people contain their food messes.
As a hosteling experience this met most of our expectations. Bunk beds were comfortable, communal area was very large.

I have stayed before, it is a great location. The kitchen is big and there is a large patio out back. Parking is free on the side street. I always meet nice people from all over there.

it says free parking, but only have room for three cars, luckily there is parking nearby on the street. only has one shower for females.
good location, walking distance from most things a tourist wants to do. it is what you pay for a hostel bed, but clean, host and guests were friendly. kitchen is well equipped, has a nice dining sitting area too, even an outdoor patio.

1. We booked a family room, but didn't get it (1 double bed and one bunk bed, we were given a 6-seater dorm) 2. We paid for 6 beds when we only needed 3, it could not be changed due to some flaw on the Booking.com side 3. We ended up paying almost $400 for 2 nights of stay for three people, that's a lot for a hostel 4. We didn't get the free parking since all 3 were taken. 5. One of the washrooms was not functional, so that's a bummer. 6. The rooms were below average for a hostel in today's time and age. The rooms didn't have a charging slot near the bed nor private reading light.
The hostel staff was very nice and polite, prompt in their action as well. The location is excellent, it takes 10 mins of walk to Okanagan lake beach and most of the downtown center. There are 3 free parking slots available inside the hostel, but that's pretty much it. Hostel is well maintained and washrooms are clean. The kitchen is stocked and big size.
