Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOur room was quite small, but manageable for a 3 night stay.
Our stay at Holiday Lodge was extremely good. It is well-located within each walking distance of Downtown Banff and there was space to park our car on site. Karin is an excellent host and was very helpful Iin providing help and advice on places to visit and on local restaurants. Before we left, she advised us on places to stop along the Icefields Parkway. Her breakfasts are excellent, with plentiful food, and her muffins are as legendary as previous reviews suggested. She also provides bags so that you can take any uneaten food with you. We would highly recommend a stay at Holiday Lodge.

United StatesNothing. Everything was perfect.
Our host, Karin, was the sweetest most thoughtful human. We were so grateful to have her as someone to ask about recommendations for the town of Banff. Everything was set up above and beyond and we didn’t need anything extra. We felt so special every time we came home. Our beds were re-set and room was tidy. The beds were so cozy. Karin’s dog, Tenya, was the sweetest dog and one of the highlights of the home. We felt so comfortable and safe and welcome. We loved it so much and cannot say enough good things.

CanadaJust a suggestion that it will be good to change the shower dials (takes time to get the water temperature right so a lot of water is wasted down the drain) and build a proper size tub (i’m 5’4 and the shower head is only another head above me) so that those who are 5’7 and up or a bigger person can be comfortable. It didn’t bother me that much still a 10/10 experience but would be good to do a mini reno during the months without any guests to save water for the future.
Karin was nice and very welcoming. She prepared delicious charcuterie board for breakfast every morning that I was also able to make prosciutto sandwich for lunch on the skill hills. The whole place is a vibe I cannot stop looking at all the unique decorations. Location (behind IGA and 2 blocks away from 2 different ski shuttle pickup points) and price cannot be beat. Although the house is old (floors and doors creak) it was very clean without any cobbwebs in the corners or moldy smell from sheets. Fast wifi and a hot/cold drinking water dispenser right outside the room.

CanadaEverything was great and our stay was absolutely pleasant. Our only constructive feedback would be that it would have been great to have a single handle shower faucet that is easier to adjust the water temperature. The two handle faucet was a little tricky or maybe we just could not figure how to adjust it easily. Overall, we really enjoyed staying here and would definitely recommend this place!
Home-made and freshly baked muffins, three to four different kinds of cheese, prosciutto, eggs, coffee, butter, home-made jam and many more!! The breakfast is absolutely FABULOUS! The location is amazing and the host is super helpful. She went through the entire map of downtown Banff and informed us about lots of restaurants and bars, gave us very useful tips for our trip to Lake Louise, and she even lent her snow grippers to us for climbing up the Tunnel Mountain. She provided us extra pillows and blankets and she made sure we had everything we needed. If we visit Banff again in the future, we would definitely love to stay here.

CanadaNot something we didn't like but something to keep in mind when booking - the house is old (1911, from what I remember) and the house has definitely kept it's charm and some updates but keep expectations reasonable for a house that age and you'll be golden.
I almost don't want to say how much we liked it here so that it stays off the radar! Holiday Lodge is within walking distance of the main strip of Banff but far enough away that it's not too loud in the evening. Breakfast was great in the morning and we enjoyed Karin's freshly baked muffins (and took the leftovers with us to snack on). Great price for a hidden gem.
