How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It was strange that there was no contact with any staff except by phone. To their credit, if we called with a specific request, someone came and took care of it pretty quickly.
Location and room were great. A beautiful space. We definitely recommend room #1. The common areas were beautifully appointed in this historic old mansion.

I struggle with the fact that the site is unattended and everything is though text and calls. All was sorted, but things would have been smoother, should someone be there to help with enquiries.

I have no complaints, but I do have some warnings. This is a historic building and I didn't see how anyone with limited mobility would be able to get through the main entry with its narrow and heavy double doors with two tight steps. If you have physical limitations, you definitely need to discuss them with the staff before you arrive since there isn't obvious onsite staff. We didn't need anything, so I don't know how hard it is to get assistance. They do not have an elevator, so I recommend packing light if you are on an upper floor. We loved our 4th floor room, but it was definitely a bit hard to schlep our luggage upstairs.
The vintage furniture was beautiful and in good condition. The room had every amenity l could want... Nespresso for coffee and tea, comfy robe, nice shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and lotion. All linen was clean and crisp. Their contactless check in and out process worked well. The location is wonderful for exploring the old city.

There were supposed to be extra cups in kitchen area but there were none. Would have been good to have a mat for the boots to not spread salt around
The hotel was really cute. The bed and pillows were super comfy, in a good area, and the decor was beautiful.

Nothing. We enjoyed it all.
My wife and I love Vieux Quebec and this is a great location. Comfortable bed and a wonderful massage bathtub. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Loved our stay there.

Room was hot. Thankfully we could open a window. 53 stairs was more than expected. Definitely should let 4th floor visitors know in case they have even the slightest mobility issues.
Location was excellent. Reception instructions were clear and accurate.

The hotel was very unique and felt like we were transported back into the Victorian era. The location was central to everything we wanted to see. We felt like we were in the heart of Old Quebec, which we loved!

The Check-In is very confusing. One communicates via Booking all the time, then out of nowhere I have to read Emails I do not know about and all this in winter while walking outside. Staff must learn not to knock at 9 AM for a minute while check out is at 11 AM. Since check in is only from 16:00 it is less then 19 hours off.
We had a nice big room in the fantastic old part of Quebec City!

The room was very warm. Wish we had had the ability to control the room temperature. We could not open a window or turn the air on. But still a lovely stay.
The facility was beautiful and decorated for the holidays. We had booked to stay on the 4th floor but were upgraded to the 2 nd floor. Was looking forward to the exposed stone and beams. Will try again on another trip.

The fireplace didn't work in the lobby. The last day, we noticed that the ceiling was leaking from the room above us.
