Doreen came out the minute we arrived to show us around our room. From the king size bed to the pull-out couch with a hand-quilted blanket, the kitchenette with neatly hung dish towels, home made baked goods left for us, a table with a decorative bouquet of flowers, to the bathroom with neatly arranged soap and towels, all spoke of a well thought out and heart-felt welcome to the guests who come to visit this gem. Close to restaurants, amenities, the highway, and the city in general, while being secluded and quiet at the same time. Attention to detail and a warm welcome makes this a top spot for a repeat visit!

Cobwebs in the ceiling, bathroom door didn't close properly. We were given enough juice and breakfast food for 2 days, would have liked enough for all 3 days.

Location was great, easy access from the highway and downtown. Close to the folk festival venue. Enjoyed feeding and learning about the alpacas. Fresh baked goodies were nice.

In our view there were no drawbacks.

We found the location on the canal to be beautiful, and quiet. There was no breakfast as such, but there was a well-equipped kitchenette, fresh baked goods, and juices in the fridge. The suite was spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean. The bathroom was well-equipped with any toiletries one might need.

The grass around the fire pit could have been cut shorter or removed to cut down on mosquitoes when trying to enjoy the fire.

The fridge was well stocked, the extra treats were good. There was a nice set of dishes and cutlery, a good coffee maker and toaster. Lots of extras, cleaning supplies, ample soft towels replaced each day, nice roomy shower with good water pressure. Great set of the main room and a comfortable front screened in porch facing the water. Doreen was a great host.

This guesthouse is in a beautiful location for nature lovers. Quiet with many beautiful birds and wonderful nature sites close by. Doreen is friendly and helpful. We were very comfortable and well take care of!

The bathroom door on the back suite does not close. ( needs to be planed and readjusted.) The front suite and back suites are connected by adjoining doors in the middle. The front suite connecting door closed well to be locked, but the back suite adjoining door did not close. I was not able to open it fully, nor close it past the door frame, therefore I could not lock it. Simply fixed by removing the door and shaving off the bottom and sides to fit. I could hear the noise of the people (my friends) in the front suite, because only one door closed completely. I would suggest this guest home rental would be perfect for a family using both rooms or for friends to share. I would not feel comfortable using one side of the building with someone else right on the other side of the door, esp, when both adjoining doors don’t close. The soap bars in the bathroom seemed old, but I brought my own shower wash anyways.

Baked goods were left for us in a small tupperware. 4 homemade cookies, 2 granola bars, small loaf of homemade bran pecan bread, 2 apple juice and 2 orange juice and plenty of bottled water in the fridge along with a jar of coffee. Tea and sugar supplied but no powdered coffee lightener or creamers were available. The queen bed in the back suite was very comfortable, along with the lovely screened porch in the back. The room was clean and I had enough supplies. I was surprised to find shampoo and conditioner in the shower. I appreciated the door code for entry. This is a lovely area in close proximity to everything. It is quiet and peaceful and the owner is quite lovely. It is an older building, so not fancy but well maintained and comfortable. There was plenty of drawer space in the back suite and the top drawer full of “OLD: tour books, maps and such. Back to 2004, so perhaps updating the local tour info would be a nice idea. They have strict rules about use of the towels, and garbage and recycling, so be sure to read all the welcome info and signs posted. I felt completely safe leaving the screen door open all night for fresh air and there is plenty of space to roam. The two alpacas are fun to watch. I would definitely return and recommend to others who are looking for an affordable, tranquil, well located and picturesque rental. It is a guest house, not what you would consider a B and B in my opinion. The tv has streaming channels and there is also a USB port. I had no issues with the wifi. You can easily walk along the canal and the view is beautiful.

There's no exhaust fan and bathtub in the washroom.

Quiet and peaceful environment. It's so relax to sit in the porch and looking at the lake. The room is clean, the welcome muffin, cookies and juice are good. We enjoy canoeing and fishing, alpacas are cute.

You could hear the other guests in the other room, so they probably heard our tv and possibe conversations.

Location was really nice , unfortunalty the weather did not cooperate and we were rained in and couldn't take a canoe out. Loved the alpacas. Great homemade goodies provided to us when we arrived too.

1) Shower was broke and we got blamed. 2) Canoe was great however you must lifted off about 3ft high stand and pull it to the river about 2 meter from the stand. Which is very inconvenient as it heavy.

*******BEWARE READ THIS FULL REVIEW BEFORE BOOK THIS PROPERTY******* Host has ruined our holiday. If you want to in the same situation then go for this property. We booked this property for 3 nights. When we arrived to the property host wash really nice and polite however not on the last day. We had check in on August 23, 2021 Monday at 3:00 PM. Everything was good and late night when I had shower I notice that there was a hole in the shower floor. Please refer picture. My husband show that picture to the host on following morning. She said it was old shower as well as they paint before and they don’t want to replace new shower also she told my husband that she will not blame us. Then she told us not to use shower and my husband asked it’s hot day and hot day what do do for shower she said use bottles and wipes. That was rude answer we ever had. Still we were polite and we had conversations around 9:00 PM about fixing that shower floor. She asked us to fix on August 25,2021 in the morning we told her we will let you know because in morning we don’t want to be bothered by anyone. On August 25, 2021 around 8:30 AM she came to my husband and said you guys must leave now. We were shocked and asked why ? She change completely 180 she said you broke the floor and she has to fix it. Also we explain that we didn’t break it as well as we had conversation a day before in the morning and she confirmed that it’s old shower and they painted. We couldn’t understand what happen in just a night to change her mind completely and we got blamed as well as kicked out of the property. Also she threatens us to call police. I don’t understand for what ? We were so quiet for two nights. It was traumatic experience. She said I have many shampoo bottles and the bottle fall down and break the floor. It was the funniest logic I ever heard in my life. Furthermore, she charged us for 3rd night which we didn’t stay there.
