Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIn the booking information on Booking.com I did not see where it mentioned that the bathrooms were not in the rooms for my selection. That was a surprise upon my arrival. The road to the hotel is gated and there should be a sign saying press the call button which was not obvious in the dark when I arrived. Also the side door is locked at night which means you have to walk around the building to access the hotel.
. The room and bathrooms where clean. The room reflected it's history as a convent but practical. The breakfast was very good as well. The grounds are spectacular and access to the nature reserve was an extra bonus. This place has very basic rooms with no television. However, there are plenty of lounges to hang out in with televisions. This place is a bit off the beaten track but worth the trip. The room price was very reasonable. Most of the rooms do not have bathrooms in the room. You need to specify which one you want.

United StatesYou may want to pack bug spray and confirm if your room has an attached bathroom or not. We highly recommend shower sandals for communal bathrooms.
The staff was fantastic. We appreciated the variety and convenience of the breakfast. The bistro was lovely, and we enjoyed the diversity of guests. The refuge was a treat, and we treasured the outdoor seating options.

United Stateswas double billed for the room and though it was eventually straightened out, it took a lot of time. We traveled by bike and were yelled at by an employee when leaving with our luggage strapped to our bikes. Note cars can drive onto the property with passengers and luggage.
Beautiful property and they had a room for our bicycles.

CanadaHard to find especially as there were road works on the route from Chateauguay so we were late arriving. There was no food as we arrived half an hour after the dining room closed at 7 pm. Then the breakfast we were looking forward to was a “boxed” breakfast, pretty bad and there was no hot water or coffee available. We certainly would not recommend the place although the surroundings were quite lovely.
In a beautiful setting

FranceNo breakfast buffet but only lunch boxes of low quality …due to Covid. The hotel is a former religious boarding school (Opus Dei?) from the early 1960s and the whole furniture is from that time. Looks spooky at night.
The location is very beautiful and the staff upon arrival was very friendly and helpful. Updated me to a room with AC. Great river view

CanadaSee above regarding the room temperature. The ceiling fan helped a little but the room was too warm at night.
The breakfast was very satisfactory. I would have preferred some air conditioning in the room as the daily temperatures were very high and the room was quite warm at night. The cleanliness of the Manoir was exceptional and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Germanywe had booked a 2 star rated hotel for two nights and 3 people (2 rooms) at booking.com and assumed usual hotel standards with a rating of 6.8 out of 128 bookings. Two tiny rooms (about 10 m²), no double bed, only two metal single beds, floor showers and toilets without any booking notice (in times of Corona), no air conditioning, no TV/telephone and that at 2 stars!!! We left early without a refund. At booking.com only understanding service staff, but no accommodation despite the obviously wrong description, which further complaints at the reception confirmed and fake reviews. Random reviews by booking.com would confirm this.
breakfast was okay.
