Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The house is I beautiful old property right in the heart of downtown Vancouver. The staff are welcoming and very helpful.....nothing is too much trouble. We especially liked the free pantry where you could get hot and cold drinks, fruit and snacks at any time of the day or night, and the glass of sherry each evening was a fab touch. Our room was spacious and the bed was really comfy and the shower room was large and well fitted. We will definitely recommend O Canada House as the perfect place to stay.....it is easy to get public transport to the base of Grouse Mountain, and to the Capilano Bridge. If we xisit Xancouver again, we will definitely stay again.

IcelandI liked everything. But there are few things that people might want to know before the book. There is no elevator in the house and you have to walk up stairs to get into the house, which can be challenging with heavy luggage. The breakfast is not a buffet but a pre ordered meal.
I am so glad I found this gem. This is one of the most memorable guesthouses I have stayed in. The atmosphere was very pleasant and felt more like a home than a guesthouse. The breakfast was so good, and the complementary snacks and drinks were great, especially if you are jet lagged and wake up very early. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I hope I can come back to Vancouver and stay there again one day and I am recommending this b&b to everyone.

United KingdomSteps up to the door, with a heavy case……not many though!
To be returning to a fabulous place that almost feels like home, the staff are so welcoming. And of course the amazing, best beds in the world, and homemade goodies to nibble on in the middle of the night, after a long flight! The cleanliness is exceptional as is the gourmet breakfast. What not to love ?

CanadaThe carpet in our room was worn out and there is a gap at the top of the door. But this is to be expected in a heritage house where the overall charm outweighs the generic sterile atmosphere of a conventional hotel.
The property had a comfortable common room to relax in and enjoy the complimentary cold drinks, coffee and snacks. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The king size bed made for a great sleep.

Exceptional as always, a haven after a long flight, melt into the amazing bed, and spotlessly clean room, have a homemade nibble from the kitchen and then start your day with a delicious, fulfilling breakfast. The staff are gorgeous, ultra friendly and welcoming and they remembered us!!! The Penthouse Suite is just the best!! Thank you!

United StatesWalls were a bit thin so I can hear folks upstairs talking or playing music during quiet hours. Master suite is kitchen/living room adjacent so you also hear everyone in the morning having their breakfast.
Excellent location and phenomenal breakfast options to choose from. They even have snacks available and a shared minifridge if you have left over food.

AustraliaIt’s difficult to be critical as the service is outstanding and we adored our temporary home but the property is a little tired . It’s immaculately clean but the carpets are past there use by date.
The location was excellent - we walked everywhere . Chai and Ryan were outstanding - very helpful and obliging - 10/10. The open pantry was excellent - delicious cakes and the ability to have a cup of tea & coffee and snacks was a lovely surprise . We were even provided with a breakfast take away as we had an early departure time . The East room was lovely - everything you could need including robes and a spacious bathroom . Small fridge too.

United KingdomIt felt strange going to the communal snack area to make an early morning cuppa in a robe.
Overall, the feel of the stay was as a house guest. It was a home from home. Furniture matched the heritage building. The beds were comfortable. Staff were friendly and kind and had done a great job decorating for Halloween.

United StatesIt's time for some upgrades - paint color, brown rugs, some of the furnishings look a bit tired. My bedroom had poor lighting. My mattress was a little saggy and the pillows were kind of lumpy. No full length mirror. For the price, I expected some of these touches. Code locks on the rooms instead of keys would be convenient. I would have appreciated having someone greet me when I arrived (after 5, but not so far after, and there was a staffer in the kotchen working) and show me around.
Staff that did breakfast in the morning very nice and friendly and the breakfast was plentiful. Centrally located for getting all around on foot. Close to amenities. Safe, quiet and clean. Lovely to have tea, drinks. and homemade baked goods available at any time of day or night, and ROBES. People actually felt comfortable coming to breakfast in their pjs and robes -- so a homey vibe. All in all, a comfortable place for a single woman traveler. Nice lodgers from all over the world!

United StatesThe shower stall was a little small and smelled a little musty. Nothing too bad, but could have been better. I realize that the property has been in busy use all season. The breakfasts were good, eggs cooked accurately to order, etc.; however, would have wished for a little more to take the breakfast to the next level. What was missing? Perhaps special homemade jams, no sourdough or corn bread (just white/wheat), etc. The whole breakfast choice had to be specified the night before, which helps keep down food waste, but then there were no pleasant culinary surprises.
Nice, quiet room on the back side. Enjoyed easy access to coffee/tea and to the cookies, cake and other goodies. Very much appreciated. Also liked coming back to the property on a rainy afternoon to enjoy a nice fire in the fireplace. Also enjoyed the breakfast room and visiting with our fellow travelers. Plus everything was in walking distance: Downtown restaurants, the cruise port, the small boat that takes you to Granville Island - - All are within 15 minutes on foot.

United StatesNothing! A word to the wise; This property is not suitable for small children. I was so glad there were no toddlers there when we were there.
Everything went well. We loved to just hang out on the property and enjoyed the feeling of being in the woods while right down town. The food was terrific : Keep your pastry chef. It is a beautiful building, both inside and out. The interior decor was appropriate for the architecture, and lovely as well. It was so quiet and comfortable. The staff was great and so kind to us. we realize that maintaining the house is a real challenge. Keep up the good work. You are doing so well.

United KingdomIt didn’t affect us during our stay as temperatures were comfortable but I could imagine without air conditioning in high season it could be very uncomfortable. Carpets are looking tired but I understand from chatting to one of the staff that both these things are looking to be addressed next year.
We loved the quaint building and comfortable furnishings of this beautiful place to stay in the heart of Vancouver.
