How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The only thing that was lacking would be the number of towels that were included for a family of 4, definitely not enough for all of us. Also, no extra bedding or pillows included for the pull out sofa. Other than that, we had no issues!
We loved the close proximity to the Fortress of Louisburg, since that was our main reason for travelling to Cape Breton. The Fortress is only a few minutes up the road from Pecks. The cottage was very clean and had the necessities. Full kitchen, bathroom, 2 decent sized bedrooms and a pull out sofa. Staff was friendly and it was an enjoyable stay.

My only issue is when I booked it online I keyed in three adults for the 2 bedroom cabin it priced it up but it showed three people but 2 adults when I arrived I was charged an additional $10 a night for the third person being an adult. Now that is not a big deal money wise but if I had know before arriving I would have had the option to book elsewhere if I disagreed with the additional charge.....

Beds were noisy (creaked with every move) and was very hard … not comfortable… the living room furniture was also uncomfortable … no hair dryer

We were in cottage 5. The bed closest to the kitchen was quite loud...although it was soft, it was as though the foam groaned everytime there was a slight position change.
Nice size for our group of 3. Convenient location for visiting the local walking trails & fort. Clean.

Location and view was disappointing. Overlooking the parking lot. Pictures are deceiving we thought we had a view of water but did not. We left a day early. Would not recommend more than one night stay. Cottage could have more kitchen amenities tough to make meals with minimal supply.
The cottage was clean.

Not happy that the blinds didn't close in the front of the cottage. It would have been terrible if there was someone who was sleeping on the pullout as we were across from a Neon sign.
Liked that it was close to the Louisburg Fortress. Liked that it had cable. Peck was very friendly.

The beds were awful. Mattress was old, noisy and very uncomfortable. I did not sleep very well because of of that.
The location was excellent. It was a quiet place.

Furniture is basic but lacks cosy charm. We found the beds too small and soft to sleep 2 people, even though we are not very big or heavy.
Roomy cottage close to the entry way to the fortress, a peekaboo view to the water and walking access to the village, restaurants and shops. Well equipped for 4 people.

The cottage was sweet and very well located but needed to be updated. The blinds were difficult or unable to be put up. You could only use the wand to open and close the slats The flooring should be replaced.
We were late getting to the property and Darrell was very patient and actually concerned that something may have happened to us . And of course I forgot to call him to let him know we were going to be late. I was very impressed with his patience and concern.

My bed was fine. Unfortunately my friend chose the bed off the kitchenette and couldn't sleep; the mattress sagged and creaked whenever she moved. The mattress definitely needs replacing.
It was great having a little house to ourselves. Street noise no problem, very quiet.

The cabins are older but comfortable enough. It was a good location to explore Fort Louisbourg. Milk and cream were in the fridge and coffee and tea provided.

Did not provide clean towels. It was damp weather and our used towels did not dry even though we had them hanging. Would have been nice to have clean towels
