Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThere is no breakfast included in the price, I have medical conditions. I must drink 2000ml water per day, there is no water supply in this hotel-liked accommodation.
The room is quiet, and very good view near the windows, it is university accommodation in the same building of student residence, there is library, cafeteria and lounge downstairs which is very convenient and meet most people need, the is like 10square foot, and washer room and bathroom is outside of the living room but shared with other 4 or 5 separated living rooms, it is very clean.

CanadaAccess to the parking area was a bit complicated due to construction at the moment. I got lost on my way back to the front desk because not all doors being accessible anymore. A call with a very friendly university staffer solved that problem though.
Very good accommodation for a short stay in Halifax. If you plan on being most of your time out in the city, this is a great fit. The location of the campus is great if you want to visit the attractions in downtown Halifax, such as the citadel or one of the many museums.

GeorgiaI honestly feel bad for the students here. Maybe my impression was influenced by staying in Grey Nuns in Montreal before arriving in Halifax. There, rooms had a mirror, good table lamp, and shared kitchen had a kettle and a small fridge. Here, at St. Mary's, the rooms were bare minimum and the lounge room only had a microwave. A cheap electric kettle would make a big difference. And a way to store food leftovers would make everything awesome. Maybe that's why they have a mouse problem? People can't store the food properly.
The rooms were in a cluster around a washroom and shower, so 5 rooms were sharing same facilities. I was fortunate to have minimum number of neighbors during my stay. In fact, I was the only one in the cluster for last few days, so I had the toilet and shower for myself. I don't know if it was planned like that on purpose, but regardless I appreciate the residence spreading out the guests! The breakfast was included which was a tea/coffee, a desert of a yogurt, muffin, or a cookie, orange or apple juice, and orange or apple (fruit). You would pick it up in the morning at a C store. There were places on campus to sit down and there was a nice library nearby. Laundry was $2 for washing and $2 for drying, but the caveat was that they only use Coinamatic. I borrowed a card from the reception, and minimum amount you could load on it was $10. There was an option to use an app instead, but minimum amount to load was $20 there. Something to keep in mind if you don't use Coinamatic outside of this accommodation.

CanadaDisappointing, expected the same as we experienced other years which we stayed there. The buffet used to be really good. A muffin, a yogurt and a piece of fruit wasn’t very satisfying.

CanadaNo soap in shower room, mice in the stairwell going down a level from the residence admin desk to the ground floor. (little hole in brick). Hard to get at the plug in the room.
Starbucks and Tims on campus , staff in cafeteria were great, quiet , cleaning staff friendly, towels provided. I went to Saint Mary's in the late 80s. I enjoyed going through the halls once again.

CanadaThe descripton of services/facilities should be updated. They were not offering a full breakfast buffet but paper bags with a breakfast sandwich, juice and fruit. You also could not eat in the dining area. I was also told that they didn't offer luggage storage if you arrive before check-in
The residence was in a quiet area and easy to walk into downtown Halifax or take a bus. The front desk staff and cafeteria staff were all very friendly and helpful. Even though the Gorsebrook entrance is closed and there was clear signage how to get to the check-in area of the building.

United KingdomCould have done with more than a microwave in the kitchen, but I knew that going in. A kettle, at least, would have been nice as it takes a long time to heat up hot water!
Spacious rooms with plenty of storage. Really strong wifi, although you do have to request a new log in code every 24 hours. The breakfast was wonderful - buffet on weekends and days when they're full. Take out bags when they're not. Staff are super friendly and helpful! Very central location, walking distance from downtown & on bus routes.

CanadaHOT in the rooms. Luckily they gave us 2 extra fans to use. The breakfast is NOT as pictured, but rather a bagged breakfast consisting of a yogurt, OJ or apple juice, a coffee/tea and a stale croissant and muffin. The rooms were clean, but old. The roof had pieces hanging off, the heater had pieces sticking out, the bathroom facilities were clean, but old. The toilet had flushing issues. There wasn’t a microwave on our floor, nor access to a fridge. The parking is a bit far from the rooms and it can feel a bit unsafe in the late hours of the night.
Close to downtown Halifax. The gym facilities were a nice bonus (this is where we showered - bring your towel or a rental is $3.50). Cheap price to stay. It had a Starbucks and Tim Hortons on site. It felt safe with 24/7 security and 2 sets of doors to lock. The staff is kind, especially Shirley in the C-Store. They gave us recommendations on where to go and what to see.

CanadaShower had a lump of someone’s discarded brown hair which some cleaner had failed to clean away. There was no air conditioning, though there was a good fan and good air circulation. The breakfast provided was in a paper bag, that we were expected to take back to our room, or elsewhere to eat, rather than eating in the dining room. I would have appreciated an option for cereal, oatmeal, and a carton of milk.
Location was great. Price was well below that of a regular hotel room. The toilet fixture was scrubbed daily.

Cheap. But otherwise... Parking far away, noisy because of construction, difficult to find because the building is like a maze. No refrigerator in the room. Everything is old.

CanadaIt was Hot as Hades in those rooms. I couldn't imagine staying un those dorm rooms in the dead of summer with the humidity at 100%. At least in Loyola. Not sure about the other buildings. You'll suffer. Guaranteed! It was also very very quiet when we went. End of May. Hotels tend to be rowdy by times but this felt very secluded and well off the beaten path in terms of accommodations. Since the rooms have NO AC, then why not at least put mini fridges in each room and an Ice Machine on each floor. Just a thought.
The breakfast was quite pleasant and relaxed. Unlike your typical hotel where if you don't get to the breakfast nook early enough, the savages will have it cleaned out. So this was quite refreshing.
