How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

A pretty good hostel! The staff were all friendly, the whole facilities were kept super clean, I felt secure with the card key. I had to get something done and was able to stay in the common room until 2am using wifi. They even provided a quick breakfast, which I liked it!

Kitchen was closed for refurbishment which was a shame. Shower rooms were a bit run down for the amount of people using them, beds were comfortable enough but quite squeaky on the top bunk bed.
Fabulous location in a very cool neighborhood, easy to get to downtown Toronto and attractions within about 30 minutes. Breakfast was good, just some coffee, cereals and bagels but a nice option. Price was ok, it was as expected for the value.

Booking men in an advertised all female dorm. The worst guest was a guy from India who started talking loudly on the phone about 7:00am. It didn't seem to bother him when we all woke up and gave him the stink eye.
The staff and guests were friendly and polite. Until they started putting men in our dorm. I did book an all female room, so this was shocking.

The bathrooms could have been cleaner. The price is a little pricier for a hostel. The area is good in the day, but solo travelling as girls, we would be cautious at night.
Good location! Rooms were pretty big! We had a great view of the CN tower! The staff were very friendly!

No elevators. The breakfast room was hard to find. The outlets were at the same level as when you slept, so you hit them while sleeping. There are no side tables to keep your stuff on in your sleeping area.
They included towels and toiletries. They offered privacy curtains. Great location and safety. Very clean and hip

The bed I stayed in on the first night looked like someone had slept in it but it had not been cleaned. A water bottle also left on the bed. I told the staff but they only agreed to clean the bed for me in the morning. Unfortunately they also didn't clean the my bed the next day either.

Both the lights in bathroom and shower room on the second floor were not working - had to use both rooms on a different floor. Kitchen closed for renovations.
Downtown location and 24-hour concierge. Small breakfast. Good price

Bunk beds were creaky and didn’t look super clean, shower rooms had a smell to them

Location. Although there are restaurants nearby, there’s a lot of homeless people. Supermarkets are far away, and it’s 30 minute walking from the city center. Also there’s no place inside the building with comfortable seats to chill. Tables, chairs and wooden couch are very uncomfortable. No elevator with 4 floors was a bit uncomfortable as well.

When I arrived, no one at the reception showed me the common areas. It was easy to find of course, but it's always nice to have a tour of the hostel and have a quick chat with a person of the staff.
The breakfast was good! Maybe not enough fresh options like fruits but it was good anyway. The location is great! Probably in the coolest neighbourhood in Toronto :D

The area is a bit scary at night with shall i say some interesting people standing around. Shower was a long way away from my dorm and wasn't too great really, only 2 cubicles. . Not a lot of water coming out of it either.
Great location in a very bohemian area of Toronto with great restaurants all around. Also a good supermarket across the street. Dorm was nice and clean, bunk bed was sturdy and comfortable with clean sheets and a free towel. Staff were lovely and helpful Breakfast was good but could do with some bread and juice maybe?

Nothing exactly.
Located in Kensington area and around you can find many attractions and places to eat& drink. We stayed in a private room with shared bathroom. We enjoyed to stay here.
