How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Clean room. Wal mart close by. Stayed for eclipse location close to niagra. very industrial area. Used the hot tub. Interior very modern. we were happy.

The only thing was the room we had felt small. Might look into a bigger option next stay.
The property is nicely kept with lots of stores within walking distances. The two restaurants connected hotel is a bonus and we used both during our stay fit breakfast and dinner.

No daily servicing of rooms unless you request it. Even on the days I requested room to be services, they didn't do it. The rooms are not very clean. Dusty and grimy. Carpets need a deep clean. The decor is very dark and depressing. The lighting is poor. The air conditioner system needs an upgrade.
The location is good, close to Walmart and main street, incl Tim Horton and Macdonalds. The staff was super friendly, and James assisted us at the front desk and was very professional.

Two of The drawers in the bureau would not stay closed.

Was not told about extra $100 to be authorized at admittance for any room damages. We had no damages but made me worry as of the poor craftsmanship when it was built. (Drywall and tile cracks). Pool is nice but very small.
Very modern, clean and great location for meeting our family. Denny's is attached and had good breakfast.

The water temperature. Bathroom sink tap only had cold water. Bath tub faucet, water temperature would not go any hotter than lukewarm. I was lucky to have a kitchen with amenities to boil water. As I prefer, hot baths. Perhaps an adjustment is needed?
The bathtub was nice and deep to relax in, the bed was very comfortable, the king suite felt like home away from home.

I have stayed at the Sandman Hamilton 17 times over the last few years. The location, staff and amenities are excellent. What I found during all these stays, is that the bathroom sink toggle fixtures are terrible. Insufficient water pressure and the fixture itself is flawed as the water temperatures are never in the same place in every room. You can never find the correct water temperature and several times, I have had either no hot water or no cold water. I suggest the hotel goes back to a lever fixture with adequate pressure and no issue water temperature settings.

The shower wS not user friendly. Hard to operate. Easy to burn oneself with hot water. A customer next door asked a staff member to come in to show how to use. The staff member laughed at the request but did go in. Rolling eyes at a customer is not a good idea

There was no view. the carpets were a little sticky, just a little. the heating and cooling units were very finicky and were too hot most of the time unless we opened the windows. we found someone else's socks in the room. If you don't have a car the area isn't very walkable, I don't know how the public transit is.
We got upgraded to a small suite with a nice layout. It was clean enough that there wasn't an ick factor. The King is nice but not California King nice and it just barely fits in the room. My wife liked the tub. If you have to travel all over Hamilton by car it it is in a great location.

Hot tub wasn't super hot, would have liked a little more heat. Also having to hit the button every 15 minutes was a little first world problem annoyance. The table in our room was extremely wobbly and the television only had cable, couldn't stream anything to it.
The shower was amazing. The bed was comfortable. Plenty of plugs and USB ports. The pool was a nice tepid luke warm. The hot tub itself was nice. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

We love the Sandman as repeat guests. Check in and out with ease. Moxies is a great restaurant that is attached, likewise with Dennys.☺

toilet seat was loose which we let the front desk know.
Jerry Vidal looked after us amazingly and even upgraded us to a better room at no charge, our room was clean and very comfortable, our stay was great and we will certainly come back
