How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

The instructions to enter and park are clear but it is also taking so much time to read through it.. Seemed strange we had to take out our trash when checking out, but it might be a common practice among some places.
The apartment was great. It had all we needed, including iron and ironing board. Spacious living room where we could hang out after a long day. Beds were super comfy! We were a party of 6 and we got 3 spacious separate bedrooms which was great!

You can hear the upstairs guest clearly. It was a bit difficult to sleep but the hosts provides earplugs.
Exactly as described. Plenty of space and in a central location to reach all the spots.

Only one bathroom.
The apartment was clean, the beds were comfortables, it has a good side areas for a short stay, and a parking spot right beside the property. You can prepare your own meals.

Unfortunately, the apartment in the basement did not have air-conditioning (overlooked this when I made the booking, so that's my bad). Luckily, there were fans in the living room and bedrooms. Maybe there could be one more chair in the living room, when staying with 3 or 4 people.
The neighbourhood was very quiet. The apartment was exceptionally clean, comfortable, very spacious. Towels looked very new, were very fluffy, fresh and clean, so were the bedsheets. Instructions were given how the appliances work. There were bottles with water in the fridge, coffeemaker with filters and coffee. Teabags, milk. Very thoughtful. There was a welcome book with information on the apartment and Ottawa (sightseeing, restaurants, etc) in the morning of check-out, got an email that we could ask for a new code incase we needed the locks on the door to work after check-out time. Our stay was wonderful. I would definitely recommend this apartment. Compliments to the host. 10/10.

The only problem is that I hear footsteps from the upstair a lot but after I called the staff, they contacted the upstair immediately and everything is good.
The apartment is great. You can find everything you need here and just like a home

A bit tricky to get in front door without having to go up or down a stair to get out of the way of the swinging door. This was fine for most of us, but not so easy for our grandfather. Suggest you install a balustrade on the front steps to assist and also for safety. Individual air conditioners in each room worked OK, but some were better than others. Location is definitely in a residential area, must drive to access anything on main road.
Very spacious, lots of light, three bedrooms were good size. Kitchen had enough crockery and cookware.

Not only did it have all the home-like comfort and convenience, but I really liked the comfort of Elena's kind and delicate touch. The location of the apartment was also quiet and safe in the residential area, and the whole house was clean. If I visit Ottawa again next time, I would like to stay here. Guests who visit this place will never regret it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind Elena.

The only imperfection was that the unit assigned to me was a basement unit. I wish I had known it is at the basement level when I booked or I could request for a non-basement unit. I enjoyed the stay, but my husband mentioned that he was very sensitive to the footsteps from upstairs and less ventilation he felt.
Very clean, beautiful room deco, lots of attention to details, spacey apartment, easy check in easy parking. Thank you.

I really loved the apartment. Really good conditions and everything is clean and very spacious. It gives you a feeling of home. I loved the nice touches of the place, tea or coffee to drink. I recommend it and for sure I’ll be back here.

Difficult to get downtown by public transport, felt like a repurposed student residence, very echoey.

Our apartment was at the 3rd floor. it’s not that bad but if you have a baby on a stroller and you have a cooler to bring up and some luggage. but other than that, it was great!

Hard to communicate with the host since I can't seem to message them on booking.com (also tried to text but didn't get a response). I would prefer if it was better advertised the property only had 1 bathroom and that we could control the heating/cooling in the unit since it got chilly at night.
Quiet location with a lot of space available for a group of friends/family. Nice that there was a washer + dryer in the unit so we didn't have to worry about dirty clothes. I also liked that it felt secure since you had to go through two doors to get to the apartment.
