Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaSmall however worth noting. We enjoed our visit very much so it didn't impact the overall experience. The dining area didn't feel cohesiveto the food served Decor and ambiance didnt match the menu. Food was amazing however the portion of our appetizer was very small for the cost charged. When glancing at the lunch menu earlier in the day, , we decided to forgo lunch as every item was the size and cost of a dinner item. Menu could use more variety of smaller plated lunch items for active, on the go guests.
The ambiance, amenities and peacefulness

CanadaThe bed was a nightmare!! We didn't sleep well for our entire stay. Why offer a double bed for a couples resort? The restaurant was overpriced regardless of the quality ($50 for a pork chop?) The breakfast not worth the price at all. Go into town for breakfast. Lunch was not offered due to off season (even though it was posted on board that it was). Amazing taco place in Haliburton made up for it. The "fitness facility" was a joke!
The location was excellent! The dinners were extraordinary. Bravo to the dinner chef and service staff. The spa pool was lovely. A nice place to unwind and de-stress.

CanadaThe late winter conditions were treacherous with icy patches alternating with mud between our room and the main building. There were two flights of four stairs down into the room with no railing. The carpet was soaking wet near the fireplace and our logs were wet which meant our fire would not light. There was no way to communicate with the main desk from our room except by our own phone. and when I tried to call many times there was no answer. The impression We got was that there were not enough staff and that everyone was trying hard to keep up with the busy work. COVID has presented a challenge for all such businesses and I am more than happy to be part of the opening up of this very special place.
Sir Sam’s Inn and Water Spa is so lovely. It is on Eagle Lake and the Halliburton Highlands and Forests are all around. I loved the warm , therapeutic spa pool and Beautiful common rooms inside with tasteful antiques. With fireplaces , rugs and big windows. the whole place was cosy yet allowing views of the surrounding snow , lake and forests. The room was very comfortable with a bath and shower with good safety bars. There was a fireplace and glass doors to the small patio with chairs. Again, the windows were right access’s the front and facing the lake. The bed was SO comfortable.. and we were given a kettle to make tea, as well as kindling matches and logs to light the fire. The food was excellent and all staff most helpful in the dining room. we never felt rushed. My friend and I had lovely Relaxation massages in the spa adjacent to the pool which were booked in advance. Staff were most accommodating when I called and asked if I could gift the last of my three nights to my son and his wife. and arranged to change sheets and towels for them.

CanadaWe arrived very late but the parking was packed so we had to park at the check in and walk up which was a pain. I’m aware this might be our own fault, but having to find parking at your accommodation at 10 at night was just frustrating after the long drive up. In the morning we were disappointed that the breakfast which wasn’t a part of our room was $25 a person which seemed ridiculous considering it was for things like oatmeal or a breakfast plate. If I had know that I would have bought the packaged breakfast deal for sure. There was a really loud sound that went on all night through the floor heater. It kept waking us up throughout the night. The last mention was that we had booked on booking.com which charged my card. I told them on arrival and they said that they needed me to pay for the room still which I was confused about but did anyways. When I pulled it up the next morning on my credit card they said that the payment the night before was a $600+ deposit which I would get back which is completely fine, I just wish they would have told me that instead of telling me that I didn’t pay for the room. Sorry for the list of dislikes but I think these were worth mentioning and may be helpful to fellow travellers. Besides these things, we did have a great weekend and did like the accommodation.
The rooms were cute and our view was amazing.

CanadaThat my room wasn't ready at 4 like they said it would be. Very expensive place to have to wait until 5 pm to finally get in when 4 was already late enough. It was very upsetting and started my weekend off on the wrong foot.
Very peaceful

CanadaOutside pool isn’t heated which was disappointing for the prices charged. No one was swimming in the pool as just “too cold”, 1sr week of August. Lake was warmer! 🤷🏻♂️ indoor pool with lake views has not reopened yet to guests…
Beautiful little one room cabins with lake views on Eagle Lake, well -kept grounds, convenient parking and comfortable beds, pillows etc made for an enjoyable and relaxing stay. Two Muskoka chairs outside your walkout plus several cabana areas on the grounds along with a good supply of poolside and beach lounge chairs.

CanadaEverything is a bit dated and there is no AC in the rooms! We were there during the summer and our room was very uncomfortable to sleep in. I never would've gone there if I knew the rooms didn't have AC.
Food was excellent. Everything is really clean and the view from the room was exceptional.

CanadaStaying at the cabin rooms outside of the main building is inconvenient for using the spa facilities during winter. The all getting dressed up to later on remove and then again dress up process makes it makes it undesirable to use the spa services.
The spa-pool, the bar area and the restaurant dinning experience.

CanadaWow! Sir Sam`s exceeded our expectations as we had a very relaxed, restful stay during our Honeymoon! The fall colours were in full display; the pool quiet and relaxing; massage amazing; beds and room very comfortable. The food was excellent but pricey for a full week`s stay so we enjoyed local eateries as well. Thanks for a Great Week!!
