Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe price was rather high but this was probably due to the timing as it was during the eclipse. The breakfast was delicious, but a bit heavy on pastries, with croissants and custard tarts, but no toast.
Picturesque location with lovely view from the spacious room. Breakfast was a huge spread, more like brunch. Friendly and welcoming staff.

United KingdomThere isn’t anything. Darren was a wonderful host and really helpful. I struggle to think of anything to say that we disliked.
There are so many things to say about this property. However I have had to shorten review as ran out of space! Firstly, if you are looking and wondering if it is worth it and should you book - do book, it is worth it. My husband and I wanted something in the region as a base for wine tasting, the falls etc. I wanted some space and didn’t want a hotel room. Somerset was perfect. Many reviews refer to Darren - he is just lovely and so welcoming. Nothing is a problem and generally he is a joy to chat with and has such an interesting background. The room was lovely and large, beautifully decorated and with a terrace to sit out on. There is a large common area downstairs. What is so special about Somerset is the large lawn down onto the lakefront. Sitting down there was lovely and my husband even talked me into a swim on one of the days. Very much well worth it and I think a special thing to do - looking at out Fort Erie. Breakfast is a tour de force. Just to note, breakfast is at 9am and sitting with the other guests. I didn’t realise when I booked so was a little surprised however - if you need breakfast earlier I am sure Darren would assist - but other than this - do it. The other guests were a total joy to chat to in the morning - swapping stories as to where you are from, what you have done and where you are going. It was such a pleasant surprise that I was not expecting and both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was exceptional - come hungry - there were pastries, freshly baked bread and a lovely cooked breakfast to boot. Each day was totally different and totally tasty. Some other reviews mentioned taking your shoes off and how they don’t appreciate it. Personally I didn’t care about that and actually, this is a lovely house and not traipsing through dirt etc is a good thing and it makes it all feel more homely. The location was excellent right in the middle of it all. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Darren was an exceptional host and made us feel right at home. The property is on the waterfront with views across the river to old fort Niagara. Breakfast was a feast every morning and varied and interesting. We would love to return.

United StatesThere is no downside here - If I try to find something I would say that the adjacent waterfront public park to the east, although well-screened by dense landscaping, is very popular with visitors on the weekend days with nice weather or holidays, so there was some happy people noise impact with picnickers during the day.
Stunningly sited waterfront at the mouth of the Niagra River looking across at Fort Niagra in NY and sweeping views of Lake Ontario. Very well decorated and exceptionally large and luxurious suites with separate living areas and private outdoor porches are great for couples to enjoy early morning teas or wine hours. A full and well prepared breakfast every morning.

CanadaThere really isn't anything not to like. Picture perfect setting, amazing host, location and property
The setting right on the water is breathtaking, you can view the lake while showering. You are steps away from a trail that goes along the golf course & water. Our host was gracious, genuine and had lots of information to share to make it a great stay & experience. His breakfasts were unbelievable, we were not expecting this. Every attention to detail shows throughout the property. We can't wait to return! Thanks Darren

CanadaWe wanted to book a B&B at Niagara on the Lake for our 35th anniversary, and chose Somerset, was not disappointed, facilities were over and above our expectations, location was breathtaking being on the lake, Darren did an excellent job with the breakfast home made muffins, smoothies, fantastic job, very proficient in his role at Somerset, made our stay very enjoyable, this originally was a 1 of, but I think we are going to make this a regular occurrence. Well done Somerset!

CanadaThe "German" manufactured front door was a challenge to open every single time. If it wasn't for my partner I would never have been able to get in.
Breakfasts prepared by the chef/manager were different and delicious every day for the full week we were there! Table was set with new and clean cloth placemats and napkins and the other guests were all very wonderful. We walked to everything in the historic downtown and participated in/ enjoyed many events , tours, plays, dinners.

CanadaThe air conditioning was very high which meant the suite was extremely cold. There were very loose COVID protocols in place (e.g. no mandatory masking, no signs about physical distancing).
The breakfast was excellent! Tasty and nutritious. The host was very personable and helpful. The view of the lake was stunning. Lots of room.

CanadaThe property Manager was incredibly rude, condescending and hard to get a hold of. We were 3 high school friends who were reuniting after 40 years, very excited to spend Thursday-Saturday together. Coming from Toronto, I personally have stayed at different bed and breakfast places at Niagara on the lake yearly. ie. Kings Landing, Pillar and Post, The Oban……all wonderful experiences! We chose Somerset because of the location on the lake, the grandeur, artwork and design! Given that WE were spending $750 a night on the room (we also we charged extra for our friend who came for the one night) the property Manager acted like she was doing us a favor by allowing us to stay there. Unfriendly, hard to get a hold of the day of our arrival, responded to questions with one word answers, was very direct (to the point of being rude 🤬) From the moment we arrived her tone and mannerisms were”take off your shoes, put on these slippers, breakfast is at 9:30, if you’re late you’ll still be charged, here’s my phone number I don’t answer after 6:00 (made it hard when we couldn’t get into the house one night- we were scared to contact her!) She came to our room on Saturday morning as we were packing to leave, came to the door of our room and said “check out is at 11:00” and abruptly turned around and left! breakfast was served with one cup of coffee, no lounging at the table- she cleared plates as soon as she saw they were empty- no more coffee offered! overall myself and my friends had a great time in Niagara on the lake- albeit the unwelcoming rudeness of your Property manager. I’m sure the owners would not want themselves represented in this way! we will not recommend or return to Somerset again.
the property, ground and rooms are beautifully decorated with lots of privacy. well located to the main shopping area. The keys to the front door did not work properly. Every guest including the property manager had a hard time opening the front door.

CanadaWe were not a fan of the host, Jodie. We found her to be short, curt, and slightly rude. The stay could have been perfect, but her attitude was a downer right from the start.
The location was convenient and the rooms were large and clean. The view was also beautiful.
