How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Mattress is very firm, bathrooms and kitchen need hand towels. Not a big deal

Breakfast would have been nice.
Location was good but not close to downtown. Very clean, well maintained & welcoming host. Very quiet. Easy street parking. No breakfast.

It was fantastic. The owner was super nice. The place was cute, cozy and immaculately kept. It was quiet which I like. This was the best place I've stayed at in Vancouver. Also, there's a cool donut place nearby called Duffins.

Good location on a quiet residential street. Immaculately clean! Shared dining and living room tastefully decorated. Our room was spacious, with a very comfortable bed and two nice chairs and desk. Highly recommended!

The owner of the guest house was super nice and helpful! She is the sweetest lady I have ever met in my whole life! The room was decently big, and the shared washroom was enormous. The house was extremely clean. Definitely recommended staying here.

... That is, why stay at a soulless hotel if I can stay with such a gracious and prepared host as Sun House? The owner made this stay so very enjoyable and easy, logistically. From immediate communication after I booked, to ease of check-in and access, it was much appreciated since I had a lot going on that would have taken my focus. I especially liked its proximity to the Airport: 20 minutes by car or taxi but also, public transit was incredibly easy! I only had carryon so it was easy for me to choose transit, and boy, does Vancouver have it good. At the Airport, I bought a ticket with my tap-enabled bank card. 15 minutes later, the train delivered me 3 minutes from my bus transfer, and 15 minutes after that, I was walking on a beautiful green suburban road to Sun House. Even faster was my off-peak hours return. On my return, I left Sun House at 4:55am, and was at the Airport by 5:30am - all on public transit and needing only my tap-enabled bank card from Bus to Train and Airport exit. Cost: $6.20 That's amazing! All in all, the room, location, hospitality was incredibly good and so much better than I've received at other hosts and mid-range hotels. I can see why any vacancies here don't last long. Miss Lee is everything I wish other hosts were.

A slightly late review but worth it. I had a fantastic time here. I was looked after and had everything that I needed. I got to check in early and check out much later. The hosts were really lovely, I was even given a Jacket to wear to the shops when I didn’t have one. This was truly generous as the weather was very cold. Thank you for this. Really grateful to have stayed here. It was the best way to start a beautiful trip. Very clean house and lovely family. I would be back again. Highly recommend

Due to it being a single family house and very open plan: you can hear the other guests when they are downstairs. Someone was making phone calls at 4 or 5 in the morning.
It is a quiet neighborhood, easy free parking in front of the house, easy access by a code. Room is nice and spacious, nice comfy bed. 1 bathroom upstairs and 1 downstairs for sharing. A total of 3 rooms. It is a single family house and has that feeling home away from home to it. Luggage storage was also very convenient. Very friendly owner. Bus services at 5 min walk from the house, 41 and R4 to Canada line.

I liked everything! No complaints at all.
Best place to stay in Vancouver. Quiet, comfortable, clean, and cozy accommodation. Lovely and kind hosts. The location is peaceful but also close to downtown with easy bus access. I've stayed there multiple times and always had a great experience.

The location wasn’t within walking distance of a lot of skytrain stations so it could get complicated if you needed to refill a bus pass or compass card
The location was definitely outside a lot of the local tourist attractions but it was close to a sky train station and bus stop so they were very reachable
