Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaWe were under the assumption that there was a pull out sofa bed as the listing stated sofa bed. It was not a pull out couch and that sucked for one of the guests. We also didn’t have any hand towels or dish towels. It was very hot at night and the air conditioner does not work so it was uncomfortable to sleep at times, you cannot open the patio door because the expressway is right there and it is very noisy.
The property location was perfect. It is located right down town and everything you could need is walkable and easy to access.

MexicoThe location was not the one listed on the booking page wich makes me think we were lucky to get that privileged one but there could be other locations elsewere. The check in process was not bad but could be easier if they gave more detailed instructions because the location of the keys is quite tricky, maybe they could send a photo of what a keycafe is so that we know what to look for.
The location was superior, with a view direct to the CN tower and very close to union station. The apartment was quite small but had everything that was necessary, the beds were comfortable except for the sofa bed which was very hard and uncomfortable. It had two bathrooms wich was excellent for our group of 4. It provided everything needed for your stay even the detergent for the washing machine wich was a good surprise. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

New ZealandThe communication was very poor and we didn’t know where the accommodation really was until the day before. We were very concerned that it was not where it was advertised to be. This could be construed as false advertising. Although we liked the actual location we found it terribly noisy. It was also too warm but the noise meant we couldn’t leave the window open. The dishwasher is insecure and tips out of its casing. There was no tea towel and the bath plug didn’t work. Water pressure was very poor. The key locker didn’t work when trying to return the key. The help number went to voicemail. So overall communication was very frustrating.
The location was very central and convenient for everything and the space was well designed

United KingdomOne issue was that when we entered the code at the entrance we did not get a response but were able to find our way to the apartment without. The main issue was that the property was not in the location stated - we expected to be staying in Queens Street West but instead were at 21 Iceboat Terrace. We particularly wanted to be on Queens Street West to be close to the people we were visiting.
Very easy check in process with key available in the apartment and clear instructions about accessing the premises provided. The keys were where we were advised.

CanadaThere was no user guide on how to use the stove as it wasn’t the regular type of stove we’re used to, so I couldn’t cook anything, as I didn’t figure how to turn it on 😔 The shower doesn’t regulate warm water, it’s either very hot water or very cold water. Thought a bathroom should at least have toilet paper, but there was non, had to buy mine and leave some there hopefully for the next guest!

Vietnam1. The instruction was not sent days before the check-in. That make me miss many info. 2. It's complicated in check-in. The key was put in another building. 3. So many types of documents 4. The sofa bed just made for kids without any notification. And the blanket for it just likes a tower, thin and short. That's terrible for a stay in the winter.
The apartment located in the busy area which we can access to most of places, especially the main station. The view is great.

United StatesConfusing or misleading name. "The One" is the name of a building under construction at Yonge and Bloor; nowhere near this location. Parking garage hard to figure out and navigate. Cheap construction. Bedrooms tiny. Carpet dirty. Windows dirty. Very noisy right next to Gardiner Expressway. No coffee, limited dishes. Long waits for the elevator.
Close to Union Station, the CBD, and the harbor. Also, lots of cutting boards.

FranceWe lost 1 hour trying to get in, with a lot of worrying. The information about the keys they sent before our arrival was not respected. And there is no way to get into the apartment without a key because the elevator won't let you get off at the right floor. We got trapped in the stairway because without a key you can't get back in - which was really scary. And the people renting were not reactive. You have to get out by 11am, or pay an extra $45 to stay until 1pm. Exaggerated. They offered no compensation which we found unfair because we only had 1 night to visit Toronto. Stay away is what we say. Not spotless (poor cleaning) and dirty windows. The parking option is complicated to access and billed an extra $20 - easier and cheaper to park at nearby car parks - a 5 minute walk away. We paid $20 for 1 night from 8pm to 11am at the apartment parking and it was only $17 from 5am to 5pm at nearby parking.
Nice view. Well situated.

CanadaThe whole procedure around getting access to the unit was confusing and a little challenging for a first-timer air b&b client. Key pickup at a machine from a variety store on a different street with access codes that were emailed at the last minute. Instructions seemed to be conflicting with previous directions. The unit has wall to wall windows with blinds and was very hot when we arrived, and because it is nestled beside the Gardiner Expressway, which is a 24/7 busy highway, it was very noisy all night. There was also absolutely no water when we arrived to take a shower or use the washroom, which are the first things you want to do after a journey before going out. The city had cut off the water supply, and we were not informed about this ahead of time. I finally got clarification after leaving voice messages and sending emails and texts. The water was cold till the next morning. The unit was superficially clean but did not feel clean. Bedclothes, towels, and floor mats were worn, and they lacked hotel quality. I found dead insects (I'm not sure what they were in the bathroom sink, and in a plastic bag, I put my wine glass in while packing. This concerned me and I washed all my clothing immediately when I got home.
The location was excellent. The views of the city and lake were amazing. The unit was spacious and well equipped for a longer stay with excellent kitchen facilities. The staff were accommodating around my parking request.

United KingdomMisleading and deceptive behaviour by host around location of apartment. It is bundled with several other apartments in the same listing, making it seem like it is some sort of apartment hotel - it is not. In fact, this apartment was located several blocks south of the listed address, in an inferior (and cheaper) location, facing directly onto a massive and busy railway artery. Extremely noisy diesel trains ran very late and started very early, making it challenging to get any rest.
Poor location, not as advertised, on a noisy arterial train line.

CanadaWhen I booked the property, the address was on Queen Street and Bathurst, but it was actually a kilometer or 920m to be exact from there. I was looking forward to staying in the Queen Street area. The air conditioning would not cool. The apartment was 80 degrees when I arrived. I had to leave the patio door open to lower the temperature down to 75. With the patio door open, the train tracks beside the building were so loud I couldn't sleep. Also, the vertical blinds had so many missing fins that I could not stop the light from poring in all night. There were broken plug-ins. Electrical outlets are missing covers. There were unfinished walls on the couch side of the living room. There is no actual soap for the tub. Their so-called toiletries that they have in their listing are non existant, just shampoo. The TV in the living room was not connected to the internet, so there was no TV watchable there. I tried to reach the property operators twice and got no reply outside of thank you once I'd checked out. Very disappointing stay.
It was a nice layout. The bed was comfortable. Sadly, it is tough for me to write 3 sentences
