Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe TV didn't work. It was a bit too rustic for our liking, though. However, since this was our first experience with a B&B (we have only been in hotels before) I'm not sure if this point is valid.
The breakfast and the friendly service. Very comfortable bed. We also met some very nice people (other guests) there.

United StatesNothing - vastly exceeded our expectations. If we were not so strictly scheduled we genuinely considered changing our entire itinerary to stay longer. A wonderful and welcoming place to stay in an utterly enchanting part of Canada.
Pictures and descriptions hardly do justice. A truly spectacular natural setting and wonderful rooms/facilities. The breakfast was spectacular.

CanadaNothing, really.
After the long drive to L'anse aux Meadows, we wanted to stay locally, in order to better explore the area. Valhalla Inn fit the bill. The inn was comfortable and it was nice having breakfast cooked to order. Our room was small, but the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was fine ... all in all, a good stay. The view from the back deck is really lovely.

CanadaTruly nothing was an issue. The rooms are a little on small side but adequate size for an overnight stay.
Very comfortable and clean. Includes a hot breakfast; eggs and toast, or pancakes. Staff were exceptionally friendly and the family atmosphere was appreciated. Also pretty spectacular view of the bay from back deck off the sitting room.

CanadaThere was absolutely nothing we didn't like.
We wished we could have stayed longer in our accommodation. We weren't sure what our room was going to look like but we arrived to find that we had been put in a brand new cottage with a view of the ocean. It was absolutely beautiful, very clean and had everything we needed. It was very quiet and the bed was super comfortable.

United StatesOur room was tiny (although others were a somewhat larger), and the Newfoundland idea of a “queen” bed is tiny at all inns. Pay extra and get one of the two rooms with water views.
Great location for L’Anse aux Meadows, 10 minutes. Commons room and terrace overlooking the bay were wonderful, and all rooms were very pretty and cozy. The owner was very accommodating and helpful.

CanadaThree very minor recommendations - the mirror in the bathroom was too high for someone of my stature 5’3” and a microwave would be a nice, but not necessary addition. Also, somewhere to put soap and shower toiletries in the shower would be handy.
Very clean, beautiful decor and stunning view! We watched icebergs float by right out our window! It was also great to have access to laundry facilities on site for a very reasonable price. Breakfast made by Edna was delicious both mornings and what a pleasure to chat with such a sweet, hospitable lady. The check in process was very easy. We would highly recommend and hope to visit again!

We had the entire waterfront house. It was just down the road from L'ans aux Meadows.. The views were spectacular, we saw several icebergs every day. House was comfy and we loved sitting on the deck looking our over the bay.

United StatesI didn't like the weather!!!
The Valhalla B&B is in a great location. We had the Leif room and it was clean and the bed very comfortable. The weather was terrible and the town lost power during the night so we were without heat and water the next morning. Gina was very accommodating by making suggestions where we could go for breakfast in St Anthony, as they had power, and she reduced the cost of our stay. We also dined at the Norseman. The food was terrific and Adrian was a delight.
