Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThere is a private beach, but the lake is very weedy and not great for swimming. This is by no means the host's fault, of course! The good news is that there are several public beaches close by. I thought there might be a partition between the bedroom and living area, but it is all one big room. Again, it wasn't a huge problem, 3 adults and 2 kids were quite comfortable here. Next time, we will get the bigger cottage. There is no table tennis available, even though it is listed. This was a bit disappointing as we were looking forward to playing a bit in the evenings and/or rainy days, but this really wasn't a big deal as we had the ROKU.
This cottage is just incredible! It is more like being in a hotel! The only thing you need to bring are your beach towels and food. You don't even have to wash dishes if you don't want to as there is a dishwasher. We had the one room chalet. The kids loved the loft. The king-sized bed was comfy, and we even slept an extra guest on the pull-out couch. The Smart TV is great for rainy days. We were able to sign into Netflix and Disney Plus, and we hooked up the Nintendo Switch for my son, with no problems. There are kayaks, bikes, and paddle boats you can use without extra charge. Life vests included! The patios/firepits are amazing, wood provided, and there is a long dock you can use as well. Everything you need is within a 5 to 10 min drive. Great heritage sites are also fairly close. We enjoyed Sainte Marie on the Hurons, and the Martyrs Shrine in Midland, and Discovery Harbour in Penetanguishene. This area is amazingly quiet. The host is wonderful and readily available if you have any questions. I highly recommend this place for families, but it would be a great romantic getaway for a couple at any time of year.

CanadaI was expecting it to be more waterfront, and the spiders. But overall we were warned of the spiders, and it was good for me to have to face a few...
The cottage was beautiful. I loved the dock, and all the outdoor things available to use. The host checked in and was easy to work with. I loved the spiral staircase!

CanadaI thought it was a one-bedroom cottage, but it was more like a bed behind a kitchen wall. also, the double bed was too small for two people, it would have been better if they removed the end table and put a queen bed in that space. for that reason we would not go back to this cottage,
it was very cozy and clean. nice location and Nicole was awesome and very accommodating. easy to find the cottage. we had a great stay. everything was updated as far as the kitchen etc...

CanadaWe should have asked about the sleeping accommodation before arrival. For our party of 2 seniors and 1 adult, thought we were getting 2 double beds. Got lovely king size bed, but pull-out couch very old and uncomfortable for the 3rd person and the loft was not an option for any of us. More direction for set up re tv viewing would be lovely, perhaps in the dresser drawer--just for tech non-savvy folk! Also, would be nice to know sooner if we forfeited any of our $500 Security held. Today is day 10 and no word yet or reflection of refund??? Will email if no word by the end of this week.
Hostess supplied good detailed info prior to our arrival. Warm reception. Lovely interior (kitchen and accessories particularly clean, up to date and super luxurious). Convenient location for biking, other activities, touring. Free bike use a bonus. Lovely sunset from the dock! Really a lovely place for a stress-free get-away.

Extremely clean, upgraded cottages will make you appreciate every moment there, a variety of watercraft (paddleboat, canoe, kayak, paddleboard..) & bikes provided outstanding entertainment & workout. CanadaNot much. One of the TVs had connectivity issues but the other one worked perfectly. Not a big deal at all.
The place is amazing. You don't need too much space to have a great time. Very quiet and enjoyable. The deck with the BBQ was very nice as the kayaks and paddleboards. You can walk to Tay using the trails in less than 30m. The host was very friendly and attentive.

United KingdomCottage 3 is tiny. It's essentially a kitchen with a bed in it. There is a downstairs basement but we found it unusable. It's accessible via a steep narrow spiral staircase. It's dark and dingy. The sofa is lumpy and TV connectivity is poor. The cottage came with a big list of rules of what not to do, but little info on how how things work - TV, cooling, cooker etc. Several of kitchen sockets didn't work. Bed was too high and bedding didn't fit which made for uncomfortable sleep.
Beautiful lakeside location. Great water sport equipment. Well equipped kitchen.
