How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Sharing this space with roommates was challenging at times. It was not good to have a family of three in one room. They took over the common area so there was no where for us to sit and relax. The common area should not be used as a bedroom. If the couch must be used as a bed it should be cleaned up during the day so others sharing the space can use it. Also, there should be more then 2 coffee mugs in the space

Absolute best. The host was very kind and prompt to fix any problem. Little goodies like snacks, fruits were also nice.

The sink in the bathroom didn’t have running water, and a couple of the dishes in the cupboard were not clean, and it was quite hard to find parking as it’s on the street, there wasn’t much available when we were there. But regardless, we still liked our stay there.
It was comfortable and cozy, and the owner was very lovely. We really enjoyed our stay there

parking can be tricky depending on when you arrive and what is available on the street
This place is the best value I’ve found in years. The hosts have thought of everything a traveler might want, from a well stocked and labeled kitchen to slippers, even a generous supply of reading material. The bed is super comfotable, linens are in abundance, extra pillows. The list goes on. I have stayed in many hotels that were less equipped and less thoughtful than this. plus I had several messages from my host checking on my comfort and satisfaction. I was thoroughly impressed

It was dangerous. Me and my girlfriend arrived to the booking where we were told it was a shared property and to 'avoid' the people upstairs as they are dangerous and aggressive. We decided not to stay- atmosphere at the property was toxic. avoid at all costs.

While the hot water bottle was a nice gesture, it had leaked in my bed. I was too tired to deal with it. Noisy people above us most of the night as well.

No cooking hardware, pots and pans. Couldn’t even boule an egg kitchen was borderline filthy, garbage not picked up over a week

There is noise coming from upstairs until very late into the evening. One night it went until 3:30am and conversations can be heard, including swearing. People simply walking upstairs echoes very loud. The whole unit was freezing especially the bigger bedroom I was in. There is no heat vent, just a cold air return. I was given a heater but it only made a difference when it was constantly running and this was not acceptable as owners said I would trip the breaker if I left it on too long. Yes, it's January. I know it's cold. I come from Ontario. The unit should be comfortable regardless of the outside temp. Owners asked me to leave my door open due to an Open House on Saturday as they are trying to sell the house. What? A couple checked in on Monday night for one night. They were very rude and loud and had a fight in the morning with the girl yelling for help and calling the man a monster. Definitely not what I expected when I booked this place. Yes, it says the kitchen is shared when you read the description and I missed that. The bathroom is also shared. I think Booking.com should make it OBVIOUS this is a totally shared space. Unit was also not very clean. Coffee pot was disgusting when I arrived and oven was also filthy. Microwave is grimy and I didn't really want to touch anything. There are no pots/pans/baking sheets. The owners were kind when I had any dealings with them but I would NEVER return to this place nor recommend it.

They had a surveillance Camera inside the unit. I felt very weird about it. Also, this is a shared accommodation which means there are 2 rooms and 1 is being rented out through another listing somewhere else.
