There is a lot going on during the day so not possible to fully „turn off“ as people from the surrounding villages ask you to buy things, give them water, book tours etc - they even came right in front of our room when we just wanted to relax and read. Also quite expensive for what you get in terms of standard of room/bed and cleanliness (e.g. only showered with flipflops on)

Loved our stay, nestled in a fishing village, not a lot of guests, beautiful beach and nice food

Amazing location, directly on the beach. Wonderful staff, delicious food, especially the pastas!! Antonio is very helpful, as are all the staff. You can enjoy pedal boating on the lagoon side, as well as body surfing with an instructor.

    Nothing.

The location is perfect. There is the beach/ocean side where the rooms are. I love hearing the ocean waves as I sleep. Across the street is the lagoon side where you can canoe and boat pedal which was fun. The staff are kind and wonderful. It's a serene and peaceful place. Would definitely recommend it!

A small slice of paradise on the West African coastline...
    • Leisure trip

The "resident beach sellers" are a little too intrusive at times and are allowed to encroach upon the hotel facilities. They seem to have a deal with the hotel to sell their stuff permanently on site. Additionally, the combined toilet/ shower room is a little on the small side but this didn't affect the overall quality of our stay at all. The pros of the beach location and the excellent customer service of the manager and his team more than outweighed any cons. We will definitely be returning at some point in the future.

Super quiet location right on the beach. It was lovely to hear the sound of the waves at night and to wake up and walk straight out onto Assouinde plage. This really is a small slice of paradise on the West African coastline. The staff at Hotel O Sole Mio were very attentive but not intrusive, and the customer service was second to none. The room itself was styled to perfection and the bed was one of the comfiest we have ever stayed in!!! The restaurant area, also immaculately styled, is just a few short steps from the rooms and the setting couldn't be better looking out to the waves crashing onto the beachfront. Myself and my partner enjoyed a meal of lobster linguine on our first night and superb Italian coffee each morning throughout our stay. The owner of the hotel, who is proudly Neopolitan, went out of his way to make sure we were ok and nothing was too much of an ask for him. In fact, he also organised a taxi for us back to Abidjan on the final day of our trip (another plus point), as well as ferrying us around in his own vehicle with our luggage... top service!!!

A bit too many/pushy hawkers, and breakfast is quite pricey

Staff are excellent and helpful, located in the middle of a small village also adds to the beauty of the place. Definitely bringing our friends that are looking for a relaxing holiday at the beach

The room was on the small side. I could barely fit in the door to the toilet/shower.

I loved thelocation right on the beach. The food was delicious and the staff friendly and attentive. Clara was especially attentive. I don't speak French, so having her there to speak English and translate was a bonus. She also showed me around the village. I also liked the outdoor setting. It was a comfortable place for relaxation. And I had one of the best massages ever on the beach. The bed was also very comfortable.

food (price), security (there isn’t any — though admittedly we never felt unsafe), can’t always find the staff, our room wasn’t cleaned at all during our 3-night stay (we weren’t sure if we had to ask for this and no-one offered), good water pressure in the shower but the hot water ran out quickly (no biggie — cold showers are welcome in this weather!), hawkers (not as bad as in Grand-Bassam but these ones will come and sit down on your lounge chair, right next to you)

location location location (we were tossing up between another property, on the lagoon side, and this one — we definitely made the right choice!), staff (friendly, helpful, some speak English), food (quality), noise level (super peaceful), staff communication prior to arrival (superb), room and outdoor decor, cleanest part of the beach by far, short walk into the local village to capture a true glimpse of life in a small fishing village (and to buy water!), we had the entire beach to ourselves most days, incredibly local feel, very reliable “shuttle” driver Apparently the hotel offers canoe rides and bikes (according to some other reviews), but this is something else we were never told about. No worries though — the three days we spent here were incredibly peaceful and relaxing and just what we needed (especially as my friend was a tad sick on the second day). Especially grateful for the help from staff in assisting us to travel back to Abidjan to get COVID tests completed for our onward travel — thank you!

The bathroom facilities are small but it feels a little like camping. Worth it for the location!

The hotel is right on the beach in a beautiful setting with delicious Italian food and aloco. The hotel also offered a canoe ride in the lagoon and bikes to explore the neighborhood. Antonio and his staff were also extremely accommodating and helped us with logistics to get our COVID test results for travel.

Small, rustique hotel in amazing location. Place designed with love & style and maintained with dedication. Kids (10, 12) enjoyed it just as much as the adults. Staff is great. Owner involved in community development projects for many years. Food is not cheap but well worth the money. Daily cleaning of hotel beach. Proximity to the beach inevitably involves a little sand and salt. Note that Assouindé is not St. Tropez. In case you're new to CDI be aware that bathrooms are generally not as spacious as in Europe, and Ivorian craftmanship sometimes has its odd ways. If you've been travelling in CDI a bit, you'll certainly appreciate the hot showers with reliable water pressure. Parc National des Iles Ehotilés with the OIPR rangers is a great destination for a day trip.

The toilets could use some refreshing, other than that, everything was tip top!

Amazing location, super helpful and friendly staff, you can "fall from your bed" into the ocean. Food was super good and fresh. Pretty neat waves during high and low tides. Best of all: no internet! Loved it!

Bed were a bit too firm for me! Despite the showers, we still ended up with quite a bit of sand in the bed!! But by no means that’s a knock on the hotel! We had a blast!!!

Staff is top notch Yves, Atcho provided customer service beyond our wildest dream! Meals were to die for!!! With a toddler and a teenager, food is a delicate issue; not this time!!!! The cooks and the rest of the staff was definitely top notch

It's not that we didn't like it but we could not adjust the temperature of the AC in the room so we had to use a blanket to keep warm. We could only turn it on or off.

We loved the host Antonio. He was truly a gentleman. He was very attentive to our care, kind and helpful to us during our stay. He helped us get around and booked affordable transportation too. The employees were also very respectful and genuine. I definitely recommend staying there, the rooms were clean and cosy. The breakfast was very good. They also have a restaurant location aside where you have a beautiful view of the laguna. You can also do some activities on the laguna and party all night long. We did the pedalo (but don't do like us, it's best to wait until the sun sets 😅). We also rode horses on the beach which by the way is beautiful and very clean.

leaving was the only bad part of the stay

We had a wonderful stay. Antonio has arranged this stunning double location (rooms, restaurant and an amazing beach front terrace with beds, hamaccas etc on the beach front; and a bar, floating terrace and "disco-club" just one football pitch away, facing the beautiful laguna) with exquisite taste. The garden, flowers etc are very well maintained. It's a delight! We also really enjoyed the free bikes and pedalo boat. And the food was excellent, Clarisse does an amazing job, we especially loved the "poisson braisé" and homemade potatoes.

The "bedrooms" are, in fact, wooden shacks, erected many years ago (maybe 60??) with an enormous bed and not much else ! not even a chair. much too basic for the price and a complete misrepresentation on Booking.com.

Situation… on the beach, the food was excellent!
