Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe beach is on the inner lagoon so a bit murky and shallow. You can't really snorkel there but there are bone fish. I would prefer staying on the outer reef side so that I could just hop in the water for snorkeling.
The villas are great and well furnished kitchen. We cooked many times. And they provide a lovely breakfast. They arranged everything to/from the airport which was easy. We walked nearby to rent a car and could walk to a couple places to eat (the Boat Shed and Koru cafe are both very good). They also have bikes and kayaks to use.

The grounds there are Immaculate, beautiful gardens and breath taking views of the lagoon. Our room was perfect, the bed and pillows were so comfortable. New ZealandRooms and breakfasts were very "tropical island" style, which was done well. there was a depression like a "50 meter lap pool" in front of the villas in the lagoon that enabled one to swim whatever the tide. This suited us as would snorkel at Base 1 or near large resorts close to high tide, and swim at any time at Tai Roto. very relaxing eating or reading on the verandah of villa. We mainly self catered.

Cheran and her mum, were super hosts and managers of the Tai Roto Bay Resort. We were greeted at the airport with big smiles and beautiful personalities. Arriving at our beachfront villa took our breath away at the sight of the lagoon right out front. Welcome to Paradise. Villas was gorgeous, clean and bed super comfy with a yummy breakfast delivered daily and very private. Great local cafes and restaurants within walking distance.

New ZealandCheran met us at the airport and made us feel so welcome from the start and was so helpful in recommending restaurants and booking them for us. The property is absolutely lovely with beautiful stand alone villas in a pretty garden setting with private lagoon. The villa was modern, spacious and well fitted out with everything including full kitchen facilities. A fabulous breakfast was provided and delivered to the villa each day including fresh fruit, yoghurt, muesli, bread, jams etc and on the weekends there was also eggs, bacon and sausages provided. There were kayaks to use free of charge and scooters for hire which was so useful.

AustraliaTai Roto Bay! What can I say? A beautiful slice of paradise We just spent 5 amazing days here, weather was not on our side but that did not deter us at all. We had our own private beach with just a small hand full of people. Staff were the most beautiful people who went over and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Cannot wait to come back

The grounds are well maintained and beautiful. Cheran was very helpful in booking excursions and scooters. She and her family were helpful with anything we needed. She booked us with Charlie on a private whale watching excursion and it was amazing!!!!!! The resort if perfectly located walking distance to restaurants. We would definitely stay again.

New ZealandOur villa did not have air-conditioning (the proprietor's website explains this, but the entry in booking.com does not make this clear) and the ceiling fan was underpowered. We were OK but in hotter weather it might be pretty uncomfortable at night. We booked a lagoon cruise with the office but were not warned that the cruise operator (Kia Orana) would want cash payment on the boat before bringing us back to shore (fortunately we had taken enough cash with us but it could have been rather awkward). It would have been useful to have a dishbrush and scouring pad provided in the kitchen, especially as the weekend breakfast (which you have to cook yourself) included eggs, and the pots were quite hard to get clean without either. The staff are not on site from 1.30pm on Friday until Monday morning.
Nice spacious villa with deck. The gardens are beautiful and each villa is very private from the others. Great that it is adults only - very quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed being able to hire a nice new scooter from the proprietors for a whole week at a very reasonable rate - it is the perfect way to get about the island and to be able to pick up supplies and visit restaurants and beaches. We were pleased to have a proper kitchen in the villa and the fittings and decor from recent refurbishing are very nice. The mosquito netting on all windows and the door was in good condition with no gaps. The bed was comfortable. Good to have free use of bicycles and kayaks. The two restaurants and cafe within walking distance are very nice and convenient. Everyone is very friendly.

United StatesWe didn't stay long enough and we were there for a week.
Tai Roto is steps away from a gorgeous bay in the lagoon surrounding Aitutaki. The staff are friendly and helpful and warm. The breakfast is a tropical delight and delivered to your bungalow each day so you wake up to coffee, fruit, cereal, yogurt and other treats. I would highly recommend this property for a stay in Aitutaki.

New ZealandNot many options for dinner if you don’t have a scooter or car but the Villa has a kitchen so you can cook for yourself. The property is just a little far from everything but we didn’t mind as we biked everywhere, and we enjoyed the peace and quiet.
We loved our stay at Tai Roto Bay. Very tidy place with friendly helpful staff, cute cats, water was crazy warm and always calm and the beach was private. Having access to kayaks, bikes, paddle boards was epic. The daily breakfast was awesome! We would happily come back and definitely recommend.
