I highly recommend the beach bungalows. We had such a great time. They had everything we needed, an right on the beach front, which makes for great snorkeling and kayaking. An added bonus is the bakery and gas station across the road.

The only thing is that the units need aircon. The heat can be extrene at times and a clothes horse for hanging wet clothes on ya deck

The only thing I can think of to improve our stay would be to have an extra fan in the lounge, portable or permanent. It was always really hot in the afternoons and evenings in the lounge. We had to retire to the bedrooms where the fans and natural breeze through the windows were better.

Loved this location right on the beach, right opposite the gas station with a convenience store and bakery next door. It's a short walk to Vaiana's, a bar and beach restaurant with great food that's kid-friendly. Nikao Beach Bungalows is a fabulous place to stay. It has everything you need for a family vacation including kayaks and even sand play items for small kids. Love the outdoor shower to wash off after swimming too. We had a blockage in the inside shower but it was sorted in no time at all after leaving a message for our hosts on the Booking.com message link. Meitaki ma'ata to our hosts for that.

Wonderful location, and hosts were so helpful, and helped in ways that were well beyond our expectations on several occasions. Proximity to airport, beach and shop & restaurants was also great.

Can't fault anything as our stay was perfect.

The bungalows were beautiful and we had our own private beach close to everything and a petrol station across the road with everything we needed. Tashi was very lovely and accommodating. We will definately go back and stay.

The lack of Television programmes as the TV reception wasn't up to par. The DVDs were fine but would've enjoyed TV.

Loved everything about Nikao Beach Bungalows, the location was absolutely perfect!! I enjoyed the privacy and self sufficiency!. Had my family over for a beautiful BBQ and they thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed family vibe that comes with Nikao Beach Bungalows instead of the clutter of their resort. Nga mihi kia Alby raua ko Tashi😊💙🌴

This is our favourite place to stay! Alby Tashi and family are so helpful and friendly everything is perfect here the location for us with small children is a 10/10 we’ve stayed here twice in 12 months won’t stay anywhere else!

Insect netting on at least one window would be useful for better ventilation at night.

Small private resort with only three units (or which we had two). Access directly onto a private beach for good swimming and reasonable snorkeling. Big unit with well appointed kitchenette. Easy walking distance to a good cafe. Store and excellent bakery just across the street.

Not much really - it was great being able to access the laundry area.

The location is superb as it's situated in a sheltered bay shaped beach. We saw whales every day. The bungalow is spacious with a well equipped kitchen and a great, covered deck and BBQ area . Also it's stocked with brooms for sweeping the unit. It's conviently across the road from a new bakery and a well stocked grocery store within the gas station. There's plenty of off road parking on site.

Beautiful location right on the beach and a few metres from the water, close to the airport, local eateries and bars and right opposite a supermarket. Staff on sight are really lovely. Exceeded all expectations!

We loved that they had shared kayaks,-having easy access to the water and that they had some snorkeling gear and reef shoes . The sunsets were glorious . There is a well stocked garage and mini supermarket across the road . The bungalows had a great bbq . The sunset bar is a close walk along the beach with free fire dancing shows on some nights . It has a communal washing machine - on the main road so easy access for the bus routes . Plus a quick walk to watch the planes take off- a buzz .

Before booking I read ALL of the reviews here and I can confirm all of the positive comments - the only comment I disagree with is that yes you CAN swim here, even at low tide and snorkeling is great with many fish, corals, etc to see although the southern beaches are better for snorkeling here at Nikao it is better than I expected. We had the large two bedroom bungalow and were very pleased with the extra space just for the two of us. The beach and water views are better from the two one-bedroom bungalows but we were not disappointed where we were. The location with Oasis store across the road was great - there is a lot of selection there with breads, cheese, wine, beer, snacks, etc. If you are concerned about the location being near the airport I can tell you it was not an issue at all for us - only a few times I heard a plane departing and it was only for a few seconds. The two bedroom bungalow is closer to the road and from the bathroom or smaller bedroom traffic can be heard but it is a 'woosh' sound similar to ocean waves (the road is smooth unlike other parts of the island), so traffic noise was not a problem. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and before sunset we walked 5 minutes to Vaina's Beach Bar and Resturant - Wow what a great vibe, not to be missed, there is a DJ on Saturdays. Sunsets AND Sunrises can be seen from this location - I have some stunning photos. (The sun sets and rises a bit to the north, not directly east and west.) As many others have said, owner/manager Alby is an absolute gem, we had some wonderful chats with him, such a lovely man, he is young and vibrant in spirit - be sure to connect with him. By the way I know of a woman who had her wedding here and she had a fantastic time. Kayaks, reef shoes, snorkels, masks and fins are availble free of charge. The water is not UV treated but there are free treated water stations along the main road or you can boil the jug, let it cool and refrigerate, or buy water.

The only thing we didn’t like was leaving this great place!

Everything! From making our booking to checking out, everything was fantastic. The owner, the staff, the cleanliness, the location, the lagoon outside the front door, the room facilities, the dvd selection, the bbq, the access to water equipment such as kayaks and snorkel sets and so much more, everything was 10/10. The only place we will ever stay again in Rarotonga.
