Great location. Close to town, but far enough away to feel secluded. Right on the beach which was great for swimming and snorkelling. We saw so much sealife.Our rooms were ready when we arrived off a morning flight. We would definitely stay here again.

The room we stayed in was quite dated, smelt damp, and there were cobwebs and ants. The room also had an adjoining door to the next room, so we could hear people talking loudly and smell cigarette smoke coming under the door. The bed was very hard to sleep on.

Close proximity to the main town and next to where our friends lived. The place is right by the lagoon so nice to take a swim. Our bedding and towels were changed each day (except Sunday).

We paid more to have a beach front villa but were put in front of the carpark with constant traffic. When we questioned this we were told it was one of their best rooms ! That's fine just don't charge it out at a beachfront rate ! They are actually called The Reef. If you tell anyone, including immigration you are staying at REEFCOMBER SUNSET they have no idea where you are talking about and it's impossible to find with the wrong name unless you magically find someone who knows. We met a man who had been looking for 3 days, he had to find alternate accommodation and still wouldn't of known where it was unless we were there to tell him it was actually called the Reef. Lucky we were on the carpark. Had constant centipedes in our room so obviously no bug spraying done at all. I come to raro every year and understand what it's like and what to expect but this was a major let down. Also they weren't there when we tried to check out at 9.30am. Then they could not for some reason charge our card and instead of replying to my message on booking.com they actually went to a local family member of mine to say I had not paid !

Bungalow was apparently "beach front" and this is what I was charged for but this was not the case. The description needs to be amended. Dirt driveway so bit of a mission if you're walking on it with suitcases. Housekeeping staff were a bit pushy. Tea bags were dusty and not labelled (if they were in packaging then this could have been avoided). Wi-Fi not provided nor included. Roosters on the property crowing at all hours of the day. Motel signage is confusing and needs to be updated - none of the locals and tour operators even knew this motel existed. Bungalow requires a much needed upgrade - very basic for what guests are being charged. Separate taps are annoying for hot and cold water. No stove top in kitchen. Pests are in abundance (ants, flies, millipedes, etc.). No air con (ancient unit exists but no remote to turn it on so not actually sure it even did work). No TV either. There are better snorkelling beaches in other parts of the island. Reception is manned sporadically.

Not far from the airport at all - don't bother booking a shuttle for a 5 min drive which will cost you NZD20.00 one way whereas the public bus will only cost you NZD5.00 one way. Close access to the beach and to a dairy and there are eateries around if you're walking. Daily housekeeping. Self-contained and possible to self-cater (microwave, electric fry pan, fridge, electric jug). One of the motel staff was really friendly and helpful - she was very kind in helping me with my luggage to the bus stop. Motel staff can book airport transfer for you (ensure you have cash on hand to pay the shuttle man). Snorkel gear available from reception.

We had such an amazing experience. We couldn’t have hoped for a better location. We had the beach to ourselves most days, amazing sunset views and great place to snorkel safely. You can even borrow equipment for free from hosts. Cabin was very confortable and had anything you need, felt private, perfect for a romantic getaway.

The air conditioner did not really work and the locks for the sliding door to the room was coming off the frame.

Excellent location and it is only a few steps down to the beach. Room was cleaned and bed made every day.

We booked & paid extra for an air conditioned room, but the unit was very old & did not function well at all, & the ceiling fan only worked on the highest speed! The bathroom had black mould on the cabinets, & the shower head needed replaced, as did the soap rack which was rusty & past it’s use by! The description of the unit was not accurate at all! Very limited office hours! The bed was comfortable, but the motel is in desperate need of upgrading, & over priced for what it is at the moment! Wish we had of read the reviews before booking as it seems a few people have had the same experience unfortunately.

the bungalows need absolutely to be refurbished and renovated, because the comfort is far away from the price, it wa even very expensive for what i received. There was even no Internet in the room, and around the property. So boeking com it is the first time i write a negative review about a Hotel, and as you now i stay in a lot the last years, and this mean that this accommodation is not ok anymore. Booking .com description inaccurate. No cooktop. No hairdryer. No aircon as unit rusted and old. Bed certainly past it’s useby date. Whole unit needs significant upgrade. Overpriced.
