Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandThe only thing that was different is that the apartment was never serviced during out stay so could have had more soap/tea/coffee. It would have been good to have body wash and shampoo available too (Maybe in those sustainable bottles that are attached to the shower like hotels have). They could have had more children's sizes for life jackets and flippers. However everything else was so good, we didn't mind - this comment is more to prepare people to bring these things with you if you can, not a complaint. Also a roller blind would have been good in the main bedroom.
Absolutely fabulous location right in front of a beautiful safe beach, perfect for swimming and snorkelling. We have two teenagers and so the two bedrooms were great, even though in a block of 4 apartments it was quiet and private. The master bedroom had a fantastic view as did the lounge. Internet was good, large shower and we never ran out of hot water. It was easy to get the keys when arriving at the apartment and easy to get the damage deposit back. There is a free laundry with washing machine, drying racks and dryer. Kayaks and life jackets were available, although large sizes. The apartment is not large but just like in the photos so there are no surprises. It was a minute walk to a local store and one of the best restaurants on the Island, Vaima Restaurant - the pizzas are very good and it's right on the beach! I would 100% recommend this apartment for anybody who values a fantastic view and being able to step right into a beautiful and safe beach from your apartment. The location is a huge highlight of this apartment!

AustraliaWould have been nice to have some basic items in the apartment like salt pepper. However there is a shop next door so it was not an issue.
The location was amazing. The place had everything we needed. The beach out the back is amazing.

AustraliaThe communications with Kym and Ricky were excellent, with clear instructions given prior to arrival, which made finding the accommodation very easy. We loved everything about the accommodation, lying in bed in the morning and being able to see the beach, sitting out on the deck enjoying the beautiful view, with the added benefit of being sheltered and protected from the wind and while there were days when it was very windy on the beach, sitting on the deck was always nice and protected. We stayed in Unit 2 upstairs, and when first told this was where we would be staying, I was a little disappointed as I had my heart set on a ground floor apartment. This disappointment didn't last, we loved being upstairs and we loved the privacy of this unit, would highly recommend for any couples staying and the ground floor ideal for those staying with young children. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and loved coming back each day and walking through the door to be greeted with the most fabulous view, especially loved how the doors folded back giving an uninterrupted view when inside. An added bonus was the supermarket for any supplies being within close proximity, with I'm sure what was the best value ice cream cones on the island.

AustraliaNeeds grass and plants on the beach side of the property to act as a wind break for the sand. Walking out onto gravel then onto pristine sand didn't seem right!
Location. Right on the beach with fantastic views of the lagoon and close to the shop.

New ZealandWhilst generally clean..some cups and bowls were still dirty, and bathroom needs a bit of a deep clean around skirtings etc. Toilet seat needs repair as it was coming off and wonky. I didnt love the lack of curtains in bedroom (has sheers) but thats just me..i do understand that it wasnt a busy beachfront but i didn't feel comfortable with lights on at night
Absolutely amazing location, only a few steps to the beach which was amazing. Loved using the kayaks and amazing snorkelling right at your doorstep. Air conditioning was a bonus on muggy nights and kitchen was fully equipped allowing us to cook meals in house. Kim was very kind as to let us have a couple of extra hours before check out as we had a late flight

New ZealandIt was all good.
The appartments are right on the beach. The beach is beautiful and quiet with coral heads and lots of fish the discover. The snorkelling gear and kayaks were great. Having the shop across the road meant we could get supplies. The cafe is friendly and nice also. Great stay for our family.

AustraliaWe cannot pin point anything.
Vaima beachfront apartments were absolutely perfect for our holiday and we cannot wait to be back. It was our first overseas trip away with our baby and they made us feel like we had a home away from home. It was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The location couldn’t be better… the snorkeling out the front door was amazing and the shop across the road was easy walking distance for anyone. The apartment was clean and serviced every few days and the staff were so sweet and lovely. The view from the back door was incredible and exactly how pictured. We saw so many whales as well which was so amazing. We would highly recommend Vaima beachfront apartments to anyone travelling to Rarotonga

Absolutely gorgeous. It’s secluded and far nicer than staying in any resort (we stayed in two different hotels whilst in Raro and preferred this place 10 times over). There’s access to laundry facilities if we needed. We made use of the bbq and had some fish on the porch at the beach. It was spotless & had everything we needed. And loved using the kayaks!!

New ZealandCouldn't drink the tap water without boiling it. However, the hosts provided a (pre-filled) water carrier/dispenser of potable water and the 'top-up' source ("community tap") was literally next door - so more a minor inconvenience rather than a 'dislike'. Apart from that, nothing else to dislike.
Fantastic location on the beach with great lagoon for safe snorkeling and paddling. Snorkel equipment and kayaks provided. Comfortable, well equipped apartment giving you the bbq/eat-in option - with 2 good restaurants nearby, should you not fancy washing up! Close to 24/7 supermarket should you run out of any essentials. Good, free wifi available. A real bonus was watching the hump-back whales pass by at the edge of the lagoon.

New ZealandLimited good local eating options nearby but fortunate that local store was handy. We didn't have a car so that would make a difference. We prefer firmer beds but are resigned to the fact that softer beds are the norm in this part of the world.
Great place to unwind and just spend all day on the beach. Apart from trip to the Saturday market and to Muri there was no need to be anywhere else. Perfect spot for a family with kid. Everything is provided in the accommodation including snorkeling gear. Also bonus that the local super store was across the road. Well stocked with loads of GF options and even home cooked meals too. Loved being able to to get cooked cassava and taro. Coffee shop opposite super store had excellent coffee.
