The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The property had many enjoyable areas and balconies and a great breakfast. The views were amazing!

Nothing really. It's a small hotel in a super charming old building so don't expect 5* luxury equipment

We simply loved it there! The service was so lovely (so helpful , nice and great dinner recommendations), the view from the common terrace amazing, there was free tea all day and a simple but very tasty breakfast.

Really liked everything-- I don't think it would be accessible for mobility challenged, but that's also probably true for the hilly, cobbled neighborhood.

Great location in the hills-- around corner from excellent restaurants. I loved my patio overlooking the sea. Terrific, helpful staff.

We can only really nitpick about the water pressure in the shower which was a bit feeble.

Almost everything - the view is stupendous from the balconies; the breakfast is huge; staff is superb (special shout out to Karin, Katarina and Pablo) and the location allows you to get lost in the maze of cobbled streets gazing at the myriad murals everywhere. And that’s before you’ve Ben started on all the restaurants and bars in close proximity.

Great views, interesting and artistic decor in a classic Valparaiso building. Pablo was a great host and the staff were wonderful. The breakfast was fresh and generous. We stayed another night rather than moving on!

The staff were all so friendly and lovely. Nothing was too much bother for them. The hotel was charming, with different balconies you could relax in and meet other guests, all of which enhanced a feeling of being at a home away from home.

Very nice central boutique Hoyel, the staff and manager were so attentive and gave us a great stay. Everything was within walking distance. My husband was a bit sick, and the manager did everything to make him feel better quickly. This hotel deserves a 5 star rating, We would definitely come back, and we felt very comfortable

I wish there had been a TV in the bedroom, but there is a sitting room on the main floor that has one. Everything was mostly clean, but found a couple of neglected areas.

I almost stayed at another hotel, but so glad i booked Alcontraluz. I believe the space is two houses combined, and is a lovely refuge with lots of welcoming and tastefully decorated spaces to sit and enjoy a bit of peace. I had a room with a great view of the street and mountains, then across the hall was a terrace with beautiful view of the ocean and city. Win-win! Great location with restaurants, shops, cafés all close by, and of course, all the street art the city is famous for. *Very*comfortable bed and pillows to sink into. Best i experienced during my whole time in Chile. Water/tea/coffee available all day, breakfast served until noon! Karin was very friendly, with great recommendations for restaurants in the area. Pablo treated us to a moment of generosity and conversation that was really special. There was another woman in the evenings who was nice too. Thank you all for your professionalism and understanding of hospitality!

I liked everything!!

Everything!! It's a sweet boutique hotel in the middle of the colorful hills of Valparaiso. Great, cozy place. The view from the terrace is magnificent, the bed is comfortable and all the staff goes beyond their call to help you out! They even served us breakfast earlier than their regular hours because we had to hit the road.

The manager took special care to get to know me and make sure all my needs were met. The breakfast was spectacular, and the view even better. They were also diligent about watching out for my safety. Stayed up late to make sure to let me in when I came home after being out partying.

Such a fabulous place to stay!! The staff were extraordinarily friendly and helpful and the location is perfect. It’s really near loads of great streets to see street art and pop up galleries and brill places to eat. The room was really big and had a sunny terrace (morning sun) overlooking the water. It was also great at night seeing all the twinkly lights. Despite its great location, it was super quiet and if we didn’t set our alarms we would have slept in. The breakfast is excellent and healthy. Eggs, fruits, yoghurts, breads, cereals - sounds very standard but it was much better than that! And you can either eat inside or on the terrace overlooking the water, under a parasol. Loved it. Also, the staff are so lovely- we arrived early and we could store our bags in a secure room to wander about before checking into our room which was great. Rooms have a safe too. Highly recommend
