Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesYou may encounter cockroaches, but they get an exterminator periodically, and even the cockroaches are polite that they don’t come inside of your room lol
Everything. Benjamin and his family go above and beyond, their hospitality is unbelievable. I felt I was at home while staying there. Maururu!!!

United KingdomThe wifi is terrible, but what do you expect on the island? That said, it can be stressful when you're trying to check in to flights or book your next location!
The convenient location includes free pick-up/drop-off with the airport minutes away. The kitchen was large and had everything you need to cook for yourself. You also get your own personal box of kitchenware! The magic of the island exists in this hostel. I met such wonderful people here. Rapa Nui can be dizzyingly expensive, but what you get for the price of this accommodation is unbelievable.

SingaporeA slight walking distance to the main stretch of Hanga Roa. Chickens crowing every now and then, but I guess it’s the same everywhere in Easter Island, and it adds to its charm.
Location nearby the airport. About 15 mins walk to the main stretch of Hanga Roa. Cosy place with common kitchen and dining areas to meet up other fellow travellers and chat! Great vibes.

GermanyIf I could give more than 10 stars to the Tipanie Moana Hostel I would do so! It is a groomed, very cared for hostel with a blooming garden.Recycling is of great importance and there are containers to seperate waste. Rooms with/ without private bathrooms/ dormitory are available, no matter which one you choose, they are all very beautiful, comfortable and clean. Enough bathrooms are available, also 2 spacious and well equipped kitchens. You have private space on your own terrace and there are areas where you can sit with others, also a place for barbecue. It is a nice 10 minute walk to town,, 15 minutes to the waterfront / beach. Benjamin, the owner, goes out of his way to make his guests feel happy and comfortable. He has bicyles available, supports with car rental, offers every tour and all of that for real good prices. Every wish / need you might have, he will try to arrange it, if possible. For me definitely the best place to stay on Rapa Nui Island.

ItalyThe roosters crowing interruptedly from 5am :) our room was next to the kitchen and passway so not super private
Benjamin is an incredible host, always going above and beyond for his guests! He also picked us up and dropped us off at the airport, both times giving us a welcome and farewell gift! He took us to the Kari Kari show with a discounted price. We didn't do the one day full tour but we were told it was great (7 stops, 55 CLP pp with lunch). The room was clean and big enough, the bed was comfortable although a bit small for us. The kitchen had all we needed, and it was clean. The hostel is less than 10 min walking from the main street where you can find everything you need

GermanyBest Hostel ever!! Benjamin and his family run this lovely place (no volunteers) and they are the nicest people I ever met.. They are always around and help with everything. They can organise every kind of tour, cars, bikes much cheaper than every other place. They even took us out on private tours for free and invited us for a super fish meal. The hostel is in a quiet side road, just a short walk to the center, the harbours and the beaches. The place is very beautiful. A huge garden to relax with flowering bushes everywhere. A grill pavillion, a cafeteria and 2 big kitchens. You can even camp there. The rooms are spacey, (no bunkbeds) with big lockers to fit in a Trekking rucksack and have a terrace with chairs tables and space to hang up laundry. They get cleaned daily and every week we got new bed linens ( I stayed 20 days) The kitchen is very spacey with every equipment you need to cook real meals. Lots of fridges, where everybody has its own seperate space. And you get a box with your own dishes (cup, plate, cutlery ...) big enough to fit in some groceries. You take it with you to your room. I can't imagine a better place. Thank you so much to Benjamin, Jenny and Wilan to make my stay so very special. If I ever come back to Rapa Nui it will be a pleasure to stay with you again.

Lovely relaxed place to stay close to the airport and Hanga Roa. Stayed in a double room - very comfortable with shared bathroom and shower which was perfect. Good kitchen facilities too - clean and well organised. Was met at the airport by Benjamin with a garland of flowers and he dropped us off also free of charge. Benjamin organised for us to experience Kari Kari a cultural dance performance which was fantastic and also a tour around the island. Beautiful scenery and the Moai are incredible. Would also recommend renting a car just to go at your own pace and go for a swim at Anakena beach which is beautiful. Be aware that you can only visit the moai sites with a guide and at $80 usd for the ticket this does seem a little restrictive - nothing to do with the property at all but feedback for the tourist powers that be.

United KingdomLack of communication before check in meant I didn't know about tours until I had already booked elsewhere. I didn't get a transfer from the airport confirmation so walked to the hostel myself even after giving my flight details. They need to reply to messages via Booking.com. The kitchen desperately needs a microwave.
The manager Benjamin was wonderful. The place was clean and spotless. The kitchen was clean and lots of space. Walkable distance from the town and shops. They provide tours. The other people staying were great too. Benjamin was happy to give me ride if needed when it was raining. He even took me to the crater which was extremely appreciated. The dormitory has its own bathroom.

FinlandThe only minus was that the wifi was not working on the whole property
Benjamin and all of the administration were super helpful and caring, and with Easter Island being very expensive, they do have the cheapest prices for all the tours and things to do which was a huge plus. The rooms were clean and there were enough bathrooms/showers, and everyone was given their own set of utencils etc so you always knew you wouldn't have to wash someone elses things to be able to cook food. The athmosphere was lovely and the public spaces were comfortable as well. As a solo traveller this was a 10/10 place in every aspect - will definitely want to book my next trip to Rapa Nui already!

ChinaNot dislike
It offered many toilets, showers and kitchens, and outside chairs and sleeping couches, very cozy, comfrotable and cooking and family friendly. The host offered us free shuttle to and from airport, greeting with flowers and seeing off with little Rapa Nui wood statues. When he learnt that we will miss opportunity to do tours due to our travel tiredness, he even drove us to some of the scenary spots personally. Very attentive and helpful.

DenmarkIt will take you about ten minutes to walk to the waterfront. Which of course is nothing but feels a bit long in the very tiny town of Hanga Roa.
A great spot. Well planed out and very well taken care of. It was kept immaculately clean and the facilities allowed for travelers in everything from tents to bunk beds and private rooms. This makes it a great place to meet travelers and socialize. The owners are very helpful and since I was there at a time with relatively few other guests I almost felt like part of the family.

BelgiumIn the morning there is quite a lot of noise from dogs and roosters, not that it disturbed us (that’s what you have when you are surrounded by nature)
Super clean, hot showers with good pressure, Benjamin was super super friendly and made us feel at home. Tours were good (with great guides) and much cheaper than on the rest of the island. Around 10-15 min walk to the town where you have everything

PolandBenjamin is the best host! He welcomed us with a flower garland at the airport (free airport pick up and drop off). Also he organised tours of the island himself for competitive price and also helped with renting a scooter. First day Benjamin prepared delicious Remo Remo fishes for all guests. We felt more like a family members than as guests. Lots of small details thought out to make travelers feel comfortable. Everything was clean, good equipped kitchen, hot showers 24/7 :). We had very nice room and comfortable bed. Highly recommended this place, we spent great time here. Thank you 🫶
