How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Water pressure was low for the shower. but this is common in San Pedro.
The staff were very friendly. It was a good location close to the centre. Very clean. We were able to leave our bags for the day

Good location, very friendly hosts. Nice box breakfast when we left early, good kitchen area if you needed. Not many others staying so seemed nice and quiet.

Clean and felt fresh even though it was simple. The staff was really helpful and kind gave us a breakfast snack when we had to go out early and help us with our laundray.

The staff was always very helpful and the facilities were very clean and tidy, exceeding my expectations. It is very close to the main street (calle caracoles), less than 10 minutes walk.

Cold rooms require portable heat at small extra charge. Showers ran out of hot water quickly so be fast! Location away from city center but walkable.
Very comfy bed. Friendly staff who even packed us a breakfast to go! Located near bus terminal.

The hot water didn’t work initially but the staff fixed it straightaway.
Super friendly staff who packed a snack box for the mornings that we left earlier than breakfast. Breakfast was good - bread, eggs, cheese and ham. Bed was very comfy. Wifi actually worked which is rare for the desert!

Our room was in the main building, by the kitchen/chairs, & you could hear the noise of people chatting at night; however, not a big issue as earplugs would help.
Comfy rooms, warm enough & enough space. We'll equipped kitchen. Hot showers. Everything was clean. Friendly & helpful hosts. Nice breakfast. Location 5 min walk to main street, but quieter & closer to bus station.

Comfortable and spotlessly clean hostel in a great location. The room was spacious with private bathroom, every room has its own patio. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast good. Great value for money!!

We stayed in a double room with a shared bathroom which for the majority of the stay was fine, but when the hostel was busier sometimes you needed to wait for the 1 bathroom. The area can be a bit noisy, but fine with earplugs
The staff are very friendly and the room was lovely. Everyday we would return to a freshly made bed and tidy room. The breakfast was nice and fresh, fruit, porridge, bread, eggs etc. Despite language barriers Erwin and Sandra were really helpful and great hosts.

The facilities are very clean and the manager was really amazing and always here when we needed help during our stay. He also gave us very good recommendation for the tours. As a Vegan I was worried that I would have to make my own breakfast but the manager made sure I have a vegan breakfast and that was very kind from him They made as sandwiches as we were going back to the airport so we can have something to eat. It's was amazing. I fully recommend the Ckaari Hostal.

All was good.
It is super close to the central street but in a quiet street. As all buildings in san pedro are not isolated in sound, I appreciated the quietness of the street and the hostel to sleep well. The beds are fantastic, good common space for cooking and the staff is super friendly. Finally… i left at 4.30 in the morning for a tour and they offered breakfast package they leave in the fridge. So you can take a sandwich, cereal bar and drink for the road

The wifi wasn't very strong outside of the common areas.
The hostel is located a couple of minutes outside of downtown San Pedro, so the neighborhood is quiet but it's close enough that it's easy to get anywhere downtown in just a few minutes. Breakfast is included, or if you are leaving early for a tour the hosts will pack a small meal to take with you. You are able to pay with cash or card, which is helpful if you are arriving from Bolivia and haven't gotten to an ATM or money exchange.

The hosts Erwin and Debora where super sweet and happy to help. One of our suitcases was lost and they helped a lot with the communication in spanish (as my spanish is horrible). The hostel is close to the center and for the price really great. We enjoyed our stay here a lot! Thank you Erwin and Debora

The shower in the room was very inconsistent - sometimes no hot water, alternatively very hot water which couldn’t be adjusted. The wifi was patchy - but good when it was working. Our room was very warm, a fan in the room would have been useful. Payment in cash is difficult when the banks in San Pedro charge you £8 for each withdrawal.
Great location; a short walk to the centre of San Pedro for shops & restaurants. The room was super clean and made up every day. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good.

Location is a bit of a walk away from town.
