Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaEveryone was exceptionally helpful and welcoming. We were able to get a lot of advice about the local area, help to book a taxi, flexibility in recieving breakfast (so we could eat before our flight!) and overall excellent service. The facilities are clean, cute and it felt like home. We highly recommend this stay, it was also very safe which we appreciated as two female travellers.

GermanyThe Hostal is very nice and cosy and located in a quiet neighborhood. Downtown can be reached by foot, it was just a 10-15 min walk. There is also a metro station nearby to easily get around the city. The Barrio Italiano is just 2 blocks away, there are a lot of good restaurants and cafes. Pamela was really a great host, she gave me a very good overview of what to do in Santiago and was very helpful.

United StatesThe only downside was some loud dogs on the street (neighboring houses), but there isn't anything to be done about that! The barking stopped at night though, so sleeping wasn't an issue.
The breakfast was absolutely delicious, and such a feast - certainly plenty of food to ensure you won't be needing morning snacks! (I am so sad to be back home where I do not get to eat homemade bread every morning). Pamela and Ive were amazing hosts, and helped us with all our questions, recommendations, and booking taxis/ getting to the metro. They were so patient with our imperfect Spanish as well, which was so appreciated. The room was large (we had a deluxe double room), with excellent internet connection, a large television, and an extremely nice shower. I really felt the quality was above and beyond what was expected for the money; I've stayed at plenty of hotels that are not nearly as comfortable. We also loved the neighborhood - it is right in the Italian district of Santiago. There were a lot of great restaurants and fun shopping just a few blocks away, walking at night felt very comfortable and safe, and it was a way to see another part of Santiago you wouldn't necessarily know to check out as a tourist.

Hostesses are what make this place! They were so kind and helpful (even talked to the taxi driver on our phone for us). Fresh baked bread every morning along with a wonderful breakfast. We left before breakfast and they insisted we take some bread with us and made a to go foil. The patios are nice to enjoy when the sun goes down. The neighborhood is quiet and really nice with good food a few blocks away. They clean daily. It's an old house so don't expect perfection. It is lovingly cared for and lived in. Even the resident cat likes it!

The staff was very friendly and the bed and breakfast were very nice. Our bedroom and bathroom were very large compared to some of the other places we stayed in Chile. We had a great breakfast and the staff was nice enough to let us leave our bags for a few hours after we checked out. We'd definitely stay here again.

NorwayEverything was fine.
Correct the mistakes if you find them: Located in a quiet safe area, 5 min. away from bustamante metro station. My rom was small, but it had a comfortable bed, which was the most important for me. The cosy house has a breakfast area at the ground floor and a kitchen upstairs. It has also two terraces where you can enjoy breakfast. The breakfast made by Ivelisse, is the best breakfast ever, made with love and served with care. Ivelisse is super kind, positive and helpful person wherever it is about metro card or about a title of the song heard on the street. If she didn’t know something, there was Pamela, the host, who knew everything😀. Both of them are very kind and warm people. I would definitely recomend this place both for single travelers and for couples. (Sorry, I forgot to take out yogurt from the fridge).

GermanyOnly slight negative remark is the smell in the external bathroom.
A very idyllic old townhouse located in the safe neighborhood, close to the metro station and the city center in general. Our host and staff were extremely friendly and helpful, open to help in any situation and accommodate special wishes. The breakfast was superb, served in the garden in a very peaceful area. The superior room was very spacious, equipped with the brand new and quiet air conditioner. Fully recommended.

United StatesBest place I’ve stayed in Chile! The staff is amazing. The breakfast is SO GOOD. Every morning we had fresh fruit, eggs made for you to order, toast with great bread, avocado if you wanted it, and a sweet homemade cake. Good location. You are very close to a subway stop but can still walk to many attractions. No better place to stay!!

CanadaCasa La Barca is a gem!! Our greeting and the help provided by the hosts was second to none. Pamela and Ive were so friendly and helpful, pointing my wife and me towards wonderful options for dining, and for our walk around Santiago. They even organized our transportation back to the airport for us. The room was impeccable and beautiful, with windows and balcony looking out over the quiet street, and a sunny shared patio to enjoy. The breakfast was excellent, with homemade banana bread, homemade bread, fresh eggs and other options, great coffee, and service with a smile. This stay was the perfect way to spend our last day in Chile, in a lovely, secure property, with the friendliest of hosts. We highly recommend Hostal Boutique Casa La Barca!!
