How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

A very warm welcome, being able to use the kitchens and well equipped, as well as an outside patio and seating area in the sunshine. This hostel has a home feeling and perfect for a longer stay too.

Everything was great!
This was the nicest place I have ever stayed at. The beds, the breakfast, the hospitality, simply amazing. Highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a social place with decent privacy in your own room.

The shower never really seemed to get warm.
It was a beautiful house with all the amenities you would need while staying. Although it isn't in the center of Santiago, it is near the really cool Barrio Italia which has loads of cool bars, cafes and restaurants! It is a short walk to the Cerro San Cristobal and Barrio Bella Vista. Pamela was very friendly and tried hard to help me. She make a wonderful oat cake which I had for breakfast. The room was very big and comfortable. There was a fluffy blanket in the bed, also a heated blanket and lots of other items to ensure you got some heat in the winter.

We disliked that we couldn´t stay any longer to walk the streets of this Santiago old neighborhood.
Very warm greeting, we were offered a cold or warm drink and Pamela gave us a tour of the house. The breakfast was perfect. Pamela brought a tray to our room with juice, hot breakfast and coffee.

The property is clean, beautiful, and well taken care of. The front desk lady is so nice and she made me feel like at home. Even tho I don’t speak Spanish and she speaks basic English, there’s no problem in our communication. I love everything about my stay there.

There was a little party until midnight in the house next door, but nothing the owner could do.
Excellent location in Barrio Italia, the "Brooklyn of Santiago". Very cute house. The owner is very welcoming and does her best to make the stay as pleasant as possible. The patio is amazing to take a sun bath. The homemade breakfast is simple but delicious.

The wifi had some issues reaching my room and cut out a few times while i was working. The room was also much smaller than i thought it would be
It felt like home even though I only stayed one night . Very clean and Wonderful attention from the hostess and staff. Nice breakfast.Muchísimas gracias!

Great staff and good location in Providencia near Pza Italia. And old villa reconverted in hostal with several rooms and family atmosphere. Nice talks in the kitchen with the staff and other travelers. Worth the money value.

Pillow are too hard for me - but that's me
Very quiet and nice location, walkable to little Italy and to the metro station. Large room with a balcony. Super breakfast where I was given a choice. Patricia, such a friendly owner, who was full of information and always available for answering my questions. The kitchen can be used any time

Pamela, host like a mother! She helped me a lot for a soft landing in Chile and recommended to me about important things and places in Santiago (exchange, SIM card, public transport, and more). I had delays in arriving my luggage and Pamela helped me with all the bureaucracy and conversations in Spanish. The hostel is excellent and relaxed, has all the necessary facilitation and beyond! Highly recommend!!!

We stayed 3 nights in the hostal and were incredibly happy with both the comfort and the kind help and advice of our host, Pamela. The hostal is located in a very nice and quiet neighbourhood near the city center. The rooms are extremely comfortable and clean. Defintely recommend this place for a stay in Santiago de Chile.
